I'm Back to Blogger

Ok all, life = craziness right now, which is why I'm still posting pictures from last weekend to make up for lost bloggy time. I have decided to just pay the five dollars a year to have my pics for the blog through blogger instead of flikr. I think it's easier and it allows me to upload more pics! So...I don't have to change after all! Huzzah. :)

This weekend my eldest sister tried a manicure on my other sister and I. I usually never paint my nails, so it's been nice to look down at my fingers and say, "Aw! Pretty!" haha. Basically what she did was fill a little plastic cup with water, drip some nail polish onto the surface of the water and swirl it around with a toothpick. She then taped our fingers so we wouldn't get a ton of nail polish on our fingers. We then dipped our nails straight onto the swirled polish, wiped the excess away from our fingers, and pulled out perfectly swirly and gorgeous nails! I'm in love with the colors I chose also :) I picked a gray-ish lavender color and a navy/black. With the little air bubbles this process creates, my nails look like a starry sky! Thanks Nancy! :D

This outfit is quintessential vintage teacher to me. The crisp white blouse, locket, and shoulder bag remind me that I was definitely born in the wrong time. They may not have worn pink tights with the ensemble, but I still felt like an old soul. :)

Hope your all having a stupendous week! Tomorrow I will be observing all day long at a diverse middle school here in town, participating in a co-teaching workshop with my mentor all afternoon, and then heading off to my husband's work Christmas party-I have a busy day ahead of me!
God Bless,
KJA

I've Reached my Limit...

So, I'm trying out this new thing called flickr. I apparently met my blogger photo limit and didn't want to pay to have to post more pictures. With flickr I can upload my photos there and then post them to my blog from that site! So...I don't really like change, so that's why I'm a few days late in posting. Here is what I wore last Saturday when my family celebrated Thanksgiving!

I thrifted this pretty mint sweater from the Retro Room, I'd like to think the stunning gal that puts the store together saved this sweater just for me! ;) haha. It has everything I love-the pockets, vintage crocheted look, and gorgeous color-I couldn't pass it up!

I'm still trying to figure out how to get my photos the right size and so my blog may be getting a light facelift here in the next several days? We will have to see. I'm kind of bogged down with other more important things at the moment such as...uhhh..homework?! But we shall see :)

God Bless and I hope you all have a lovely Tuesday evening! Thanks to my mama and hubby for taking my pics :)

My Idea of Black Friday Shopping

So, I'm sitting at my parents' home using bootleg internet from our neighbors...the home computer apparently went haywire and my poor hubby now has to fix it over the weekend...he never gets a break from his job!

Today my mom, sister, and I did a little shopping around my small hometown. One wouldn't even have known that it was black Friday, which I love! I stopped in to the cutest place on Main Street called the Retro Room. The gorgeous gal who runs it went to high school with me and it was so great to catch up with her a little bit! She turned a little shop on the corner of main street into a beautiful little vintage boutique with great styling, pretty pictures on the walls, and of course so much amazing eye candy for anyone who loves vintage. There are hats, dresses, shoes, accessories... I was drooling on everything, I'm sure of it. :) Aaaand I may have accidentally walked out of the shop with a seafoam green vintage cardigan that I'm kind of in love with....I swear it was an accident...don't tell my hubby? :D
Thanks to Alex for being so welcoming and showing us around the shop! I absolutely loved visiting!

My gorgeous sister and I :)

My mama and I made two pies and four different types of squash tonight in preparation for tomorrow. Our Thanksgiving will be tomorrow as we wait for my sister and her hubby and two boys to arrive. I cannot wait to hang out with family and friends and stuff my face with squash! haha. We decided to try different types of squash to see how they tasted, and my verdict is definitely in favor of buttercup! The others we tried were butternut, acorn, and one other that we couldn't figure out. Those were ok, but we definitely had to add sugar and cinnamon to make them taste good. Buttercup is just good all on its own :)
Now that I've bored you with tales of squash.....

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving...the weekend isn't over yet, so I hope you don't read this until Monday and that you're all spending time with your families right now! I'm off to watch some sort of a Hallmark movie with my mama...:)
God Bless!

Happy Thanksgiving! (Tomorrow...) :)

Hello all! I thought I'd post one more time before Thanksgiving weekend, so then I can take a break from the compy to spend some much needed time with family :)
Right now I am with my hubby's family and tomorrow I will go home to MY house for the first time since July!! It seems crazy to me that it has been that long since I've been home. I'm so excited! I love my little town. I just never get a chance to go anymore. I'm looking forward to just spending some time doing traditional holiday things with my family again for once, seeing my parents and sisters, playing with my nephews, and relaxing. I really do love Thanksgiving and wish that we could cherish this holiday before everyone gets so preoccupied with Christmas decorations and presents a month early. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas. But let's give Thanksgiving its due too!

I am SO VERY THANKFUL for all of the blessings given to me on a daily basis by my loving Father in Heaven. I would not be where I am in my life if I was not always provided with a roof over my head, food in my belly, and transportation of some kind. Not to mention a good education. I have become increasingly thankful for my health over the years as well. Aside from the occasional cold, I have been blessed beyond belief with a healthy body that I can use to walk, talk, and even work out with (sometimes ;) ).

I am mostly thankful for my loving family who have given me so, so much. I always feel like a part of me is missing when I'm not around them because they are the people who really get every weird personality quirk of mine, and they actually laugh at my lame jokes :) haha! Love them sooo much :D

I hope you all get to have a wonderful Thanksgiving and get to see some friends and family over the next few days :)
God Bless!

Woodland Photoshoot

I finally got some pictures from a couple of weekends ago edited! Two of my best friends came to visit me and we made my husband crawl out into the woods to take some photos of us! Unfortunately it was already getting dark by the time we got out to take photos, so many of the photos did not turn out. However, we got a few good shots and they are so fun to look at! Nearly everything we are wearing is vintage! Rachelle and I came up with these three outfits from what I had in my closet, and what she had brought along/thrifted during the day. Some of the vintage clothing has been thrifted, some stolen from my grandmother, and some given to me by friends. It's amazing what you can do with your wardrobe with next to no money!

Enjoy the pics! If I don't get my rear in gear and start working on homework, I'm going to be in serious trouble in a couple of weeks...so ciao for now lovlies!
God Bless,
KJA

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

We made the sticks to say "BFF" but the sticks moved and ended up looking like "FFF" in all of the pictures...epic fail!
