Lifelight Weekend

Hey look! It's nearly the end of summer and my legs are still blindingly white! Ah, so it goes :) Life has been pretty busy this week, acclimating two kitties to our home and prepping for family staying with us this weekend. There is a music festival in our town and my mother, sister, and I are going to brave the heat and sit outside for a while listening to some awesome music! I'm praying for cloud cover of some sort, standing outside in the blinding sun is always something I dread....this could be why my legs are so white, see what I did there? It allll comes full circle :)

I will be checking out for the weekend darlings! Hope to see you Monday and have a fantastic day :)

Yellow Lines

I went a little mad men for church a couple of Sundays ago. I just couldn't help myself. This architectural yellow dress is just so fun to wear and called for a new 60's 'do as well.  This was such an experimental hairdo! I basically used this tutorial except I put my hair in a bun afterword and used the piece of hair reserved in the front for a little pincurl! I'll have to make a separate hair tutorial for this soon :)
So, do you all see how my dress is coming unzipped a couple of inches? Ya...we didn't notice this until after church when I was talking to a friend. I leaned over to give her a hug and my dress just came unzipped nearly down to the belt! Yikes...it was embarrassing. These vintage dresses are just finicky I tell you! Slippery zippers, weak seams, it's a good thing they're worth it!

Sooo...Sean and I went to the animal shelter this past weekend and may or may not have picked up a kitty or two...I'll be sharing more pics later in the week! I'm still trying to get some nice snaps of them where they aren't blurry from running around. Kittens you know. :)

God Bless!

John 6:26-27
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

Scarf Tutorial- Rosie Style

Hello there on this Sunday morning! I decided to do a quick tutorial on the latest scarf style I've been obsessed with as of late. It's kind of a Rosie the Riveter type look and it's so easy you'll want to sport it all the time!

I just started with simple pinned back bangs, but if you want to have a victory roll, I have a tutorial for that as well- you can find it here! Let's just all begin with a good laugh at me because I'm a little goofy in front of the camera :) However I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

"Who are you trying to be, Rosie the Riveter, or Lucille Ball?"

Well I made it to Friday on the first week  of school! I have to say this has been one of the longest weeks. Thank goodness I only work four hours! And silly Sioux Falls, they're talking about cancelling some schools here next week because it is going to be so incredibly hot outside. That's what they get for starting in the MIDDLE OF AUGUST! Jeepers. We'll see how it goes, I hope it cools down because work is a lot more enjoyable when the humidity isn't like 90%. Oi.

This is what I wore to our final work training day last week. I had multiple people tell me that I looked like a bevy of different characters, including Rosie the Riveter and Lucille Ball. One older lady said that she used to dress like Lucille Ball too and she loves wearing costumes to make her students laugh....I just smiled and said I did too :) haha. Little does she know I just love to dress like this on a daily basis! Not many people in my town dress as eccentrically as I do :)

Hey, hey friends! Do you like my bag? It's the perfect size, summer straw tote, and it could be yours! I'm selling it here in my shop (for only 12 bucks!). Go have a look-see if you feel so inclined. :)

Have a fabulous Friday friends! Sean and I have some fun plans for the weekend. There's an estate sale I plan on visiting, and we're going to go to the animal shelter to look at kitties for our home!!! I could not be more excited. I've wanted a kitty for my home since the start and I hope we find a good match for us!

Good Pants Come to Those Who Wait

A ratty, tied up shirt and some high waisted trousers are just the thing I want to wear in these last days of summer. I wore this on Saturday to run some errands and man is summer making use of all the heat it stored up these past few months! It has been such a nice, cool summer and now just as school starts we're cramped up in an un-air conditioned gym as the temps soar into the 90's. Greeeeat. I'm looking forward to it cooling down a bit, and soon!

I have wanted a pair of trousers like this ever since I pinned this and this while back. I was absolutely giddy when I found this pair at my hometown thrift store with POCKETS for $2.50! Can't get much better than that. I think my style philosophy over the past couple of years has become, "Good things come to those who wait." Anyone who thrifts or shops vintage will relate with me on that one. Sometimes it takes a while, but if you're diligent and know what you're looking for, the perfect piece will make its way to you someday!
When looking for trousers, I like to find a pair that hits right at the ankle.  That way they look a bit quirky and oh so 1950's.

Have a glorious day my friends!

Feminine

There's just something about this flowing, pink skirt that makes me feel oh so fun and feminine. This ensemble was just perfect for a warm, summer day not too long ago while I did a bit of late summer thrifting :) I've been building up a collection of short sweaters over the past year that are really expanding my horizons. They go swimmingly with my high waisted jeans and vintage skirts! I tend to find a silhouette that I like and then try to wear as many combinations of that silhouette as I can. It has made getting dressed this past summer really easy peasy!

Well yesterday was the first day of school! I have 26 kids compared with my 15 last year. I work afterschool so it's a bit different that teaching in a classroom. I am able to let my students have a bit more freedom, but that sometimes makes it more difficult to reign them in. I didn't realize how soft having the summer off would make me though. Although I kept myself quite busy this summer, I got to make my own schedule and take a rest when I needed. Yesterday I came home completely exhausted and ready to go right to sleep! We'll be thankful for the extra income though with me working again. Here's to another school year!

Also, I feel like I haven't been budgeting my time well enough lately to be able to visit any of your lovely  blogs! I hope to get to that this week and catch up on everything I've missed :) Thanks for sticking with me.

God Bless and I hope you're having a splendid week!
