It's like a heatwave....

And it's probably going to continue to get hotter! I couldn't really do anything but throw on a breezy dress when I got home from work :) Sean made some jalapeno and pepperjack stuffed chicken (which was AAAAmazing!) and now we're just kind of vegging on the couch trying not to get too warm :) Our air conditioner works fine though, so that is a blessing! One can never know with apartment air conditioners ;)

I got a compliment today from one of my customers and it seriously made my day. I was feeling tired and sore from my workout today, I didn't like my face in the mirror this morning, I haven't been sleeping so I just look like a wreck. But this customer, who was a sweet elderly woman, just told me how beautiful she thought I was, even commenting on how she loved my skin. I basically melted and my whole day was so much better after that. I know that I'm beautiful because my Heavenly Father created me, but it was just nice to be reminded that even when we have days when we aren't feeling our best, we're still lovely in His eyes, always. I like to compliment random people when I'm out and about, I told the clerk at pizza ranch the other day that she had beautiful eyes. Sometimes I wonder if those people find me crazy, but I hope it just makes them feel affirmed and complimented in a non-creepy way :) haha

Hot and Simple (The Weather, then Me :) )

This is just an outfit I threw on after work today :) It's super hot outside, and going to be even hotter tomorrow! Welcome to summer! I got this top from my sister a while ago and it's great to throw over dresses and such for the warmer weather-It's a great color to mix and match as well! Good stuff :)

Hope you all had a great Wednesday!

Make Way for the Grape

I found this romper at the Milbank thrift store last time I was there and I am definitely in love. If you haven't noticed, I've been going through a purple phase lately! I couldn't resist pairing the purple shoes with this romper-monochromatic anyone? I went to the bank and got asked why I was so dressed up-haha! I didn't really know how to answer that.

I've just spent my day off doing a little thrifting and a lot of housework :)
God Bless!

Out From the Depths

I wore this top to work today, and I actually stayed cool and comfy all day long! Usually I sweat all the way through work because all of the black clothing I own is in some form of sweater material. I pulled this shirt out from the depths because I was desperate to be cool! After I got home from work I threw on some shorts and was ready to go!

Sean and I attempted to go to the apartment pool this evening, but he couldn't stand the cold water, so we got in and got out! He claims my lips were turning blue, but I swear I was ok ;) haha

Hope you all had a lovely Monday! Happy start to the week :)
God Bless,
KJA

Check This Out:

I was featured as modest fashion inspiration here! I had never heard of this site, but am definitely a follower of it now. I always strive to be very modest in the way I dress, so I am extremely honored to be used as inspiration for how to dress modestly. I am a huge advocate for this issue for many reasons. The main reason for it is my faith, but there are other reasons as well, like the fact that dressing immodestly is easy. I could just throw on a scuzzy tank top and shorts and be on my way out the door. Dressing modestly presents a challenge, especially in the summertime, so you have to use a little bit of the style side of your brain to figure out how to cover up creatively. Another reason for modesty is the fact that about 99% of the human population doesn't like to see you showing a ton of skin. In fact it kind of makes others want to lose their lunch a little bit. Even guys don't like girls who show a ton of skin because there's no mystery there anymore.
Here are a few verses to sum it up:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Timothy 2:9-10
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

1 Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.

Buckle Your Seatbelts...

this is gonna be another long, bumpy ride through blogland. Apparently I take a lot of pictures...First up are some photos from last night's outdoor movie! It was one of the most fun times I've had in a long time! Sean and I brought out blankets and movie provisions to the park and just sat in the grass listening to all of the little kids laugh and play as they were waiting for the movie to start. One kid said "Where's the giant tv? Isn't there supposed to be a giant tv here?" Haha! They actually set up a huge screen and speakers so we could enjoy 'Despicable Me' in the gorgeous weather. We even met up with one of my coworkers and her boyfriend and chatted for a while :)
This is actually a weekly summer thing here in Sioux Falls. Every Saturday night there is a different family movie shown-and it's free! How great is that?

My shoes-bought for a dollar at payless! Definitely a favorite summer pair of mine :)

Of course, we did some cloud gazing as well :) Super pretty-do you see anything in the clouds? ;)

Finally, on to pictures of today! Sean and I just went to church and have since done nothing but eat leftovers and watch 'Baby's Day Out'- yay for netflix! I wore this dress last Sunday also, but didn't get a chance to take pictures of it. This is one of my grandmother's old dresses and is definitely one of my favorites. The cut, fabric, and pattern of the dress is just so my style! It is super soft and so comfy to flounce around in :) Sean and I decided to take pictures in the gazebo near our apartments for something a little different. Oh how I love having a photographer on the weekends!

Our pastor had a really great sermon today. It was based off of Philippians chapter 2 and rings true to something that I think many of us deal with day to day. I can definitely identify with the struggle...

Philippians 2:14-15
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

A Real Live Grown Up

Please excuse the ridiculous length of this post. Apparently I took a lot of pictures today :)
I came home today to find the mirror in our living room covered in wonderful, amazing Bible Verses. Sean wrote out the entirety of Proverbs 31:10-31 on the mirror!! I was speechless. I think it was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. He's kind of my everything :) I went to the bathroom and found more verses on that mirror! I was really surprised because I thought he had just done the mirror in the living room. Turns out he wrote something on every mirror in the house! In the bedroom he drew a heart and said "Look who God loves" with the heart encircling me-it was amazing!! I love this man so much :D:D

I also have some pictures of my early anniversary present! I have wanted a fragrance for a long time-I have never owned real, grown up perfume ;) haha! Sean knew I wanted this perfume, so he let me buy some (with my employee discount...:)) and I bought Burberry Summer! It smells sooooo amazing. It's like a really warm citrus smell-I love it. It's weird that you can smell warmth, but you definitely can smell it in this scent. I also got a small gift with purchase as well-Versus by Versace. It's quite a different smell, but I like that one as well. I feel so grown up! LOL. I work right next to the fragrance counter, so I've been smelling wonderful-ness every day at work-and now I can smell like it all the time!

Finally, here are some outfit pics :)
Sean and I are planning on going outside somewhere tonight, we haven't decided where yet, but it's just too gorgeous out not to get out of the house! We may go see a free movie tonight at a park here in town. Saturday nights in the summer families are invited to come see an outdoor movie on a big screen-we just need to bring the blanket to sit on! I'm super excited-the movie tonight is Despicable Me, which is of course one of our favorites! This outfit is really cozy and comfy for any adventures that we may go on :) I hope you all don't get sick of seeing this scarf anytime soon because I may just wear it EVERY SINGLE DAY. Just sayin....
