Remix: Vintage Plaid Suit

Hey there dolls! Today is a GREAT day because I get to spend all day long with my two best friends-my older sisters! Since it was my and my eldest sister's birthdays this week we decided a girl's day was in order (along with my nephews for a while of course :) ). I cannot wait. I have so much junk food stocked up for the occasion and there will be shopping and it's just going to be the most wonderful day!
It is also remix Friday. I thought I'd share with you the loudest suit set I own-this green and blue plaid number with a matching dress and coat. It is what I throw on when I want to feel flamboyant and fun. It certainly gets one noticed! The dress is blue with a sewn on vest and bow. I love the fit and cut of the dress, and the coat just adds to it. I have worn it as separates and together (of course!). I like that it has challenged me a bit. I try to make it look a bit different each time, which can be difficult because the suit on its own is a statement piece. I have only worn it a handful of times since finding it last April, but I can't wait to style it many more times this year.

God Bless! See you Sunday :)

Four Year Blogiversary

Today is my four year blogiversary! I tried to find a group of my favorite photos from the past four years, but it got too overwhelming, so I'll have to save that for year five ;)
Here is one photo from each year I've been blogging so far! I was surprised at how similar they looked, with the exception of the first photo.
So glad I've had Sean to be my photographer all these years! Thanks hubs!

Modern Vintage

I thought I'd mix a bit of modern and vintage with this little plaid jacket and some wedge boots. I'm pretty sure they didn't have wedge boots in the 40's, but perhaps?
I had a really great birthday yesterday. Sean and I went out to eat using a gift card (those things are little life savers sometimes), and it was nice to just have a relaxing evening in the middle of the week. Usually relaxing is saved for the weekends :)

My hair has a mind of its own. I tried rolling it up in curlers dry and sleeping on them with a bit of product. The curl stayed in for about an hour and then promptly said goodbye. Ladies with fine hair will understand!

God Bless and happy Wednesday!

Lady in Red + Born Pretty + Birthday!

Hello there Dandies! It is my birthday today! In honor of that I get to have a pelvic ultrasound and appointment with my doctor because they hate me and my day of birth, obviously. Wish me luck...Thankfully a sister date with my older sisters this weekend should remedy all of that :)
And apparently I'm still riding the red in February train and didn't realize it. I actually didn't mean to, but you see there was a bit of a mix up. These pants. I bought them at Vivien of Holloway and ordered what I thought was a nice light burgundy color. When I got them in the mail they turned out to be the brightest shade of clown candy apple red! I'm just not sure I'm much of a 'red pants' girl but eh, it was my own mistake. Not to mention I ordered them a size too big for some reason and so it doesn't really give the effect I wanted. Nevertheless I'm determined to make them work because I've wanted swing trousers forEVER and they are incredibly comfortable.
Sidenote, Sean said I looked like a mother Babushka. I could start cooking him cold beet soup and show him a Babushka. Sheesh, men ;)

Alright, onto the piece of the day! This fancy little watch is from Born Pretty. It is a website where you can buy everything from clothing, to accessories, to sports stuff, to stationary, the list goes on! The prices are so phenomenal it's difficult to believe that you could receive a good product out of it. However I was impressed with the watch that I received! It has a classic design, is a nice size, and I can see it being very versatile in my wardrobe. Not to mention the watch came in a pretty little box with a pillow and an extra battery! I was very impressed since a dead battery is usually the biggest reason people stop wearing their watches. It's such a hassle for some reason to go put a new battery in. This way I'll be able to use the watch for twice as long. And guess what? You can have a look at the Born Pretty Store for yourself and pick up some nifty baubles for 10% off using my code: KATIEAC10. Can it get better than that?

I finally found some vintage bangles at a flea market! I was super excited, since I don't really wear jewelry that much outside of earrings. I got a few in some various colors so I can't wait to start integrating them into my 1940's/1950's looks. Although I wasn't prepared for how annoying the bracelets sound whenever you move your arm around. They're like clanging cymbals! Pretty cymbals...but still :)

Haaave a fabulous day all!
God Bless,
KJA

A Chill in the Air

Hey hello! Did you all have a lovely weekend? Sean and I spent it getting a few things done around the house and taking in the last of the winter Olympics. Sean was really surprised at how into the Olympics I get. The last time the winter games were on I was in college and didn't have time to watch it. These past couple of weeks I've been glued to the tv every night taking in skating and more skating! What was your favorite part of these games? Watching Meryl Davis and Charlie White was certainly a highlight for me.

Well, I finally found the perfect hat! No...I absolutely do not say that about every hat I own, I don't know what you're talking about. :)
This is a lovely little 1930's slouch hat very reminiscent of Jean Arthur. I found it at a vintage shop in town and the beautiful blue color and satin bow at the back had me sold. I love the little details of it, the shape, and just the air of glamour it carries with it. 1930's hats are some of my favorites, it's a pity they're much harder to find (and when you do they're so much more expensive!). I decided I couldn't let this one go though.

God Bless, I hope you have a great start to your week!
