Preparations

Hello Beauties! Are you having a simply splendid Thanksgiving week? Mine has been full of preparations for the coming of family and such. My eldest sister is due to have a baby at any moment, and so we're having Thanksgiving dinner at my place for the first time! I'm not really nervous about it though. Things always come together and just to hang out as a family will be the best thing. I do have to figure out how to make a turkey though and how to time everything correctly. The timing is always what gets you. You need to have everything ready at the same time-with only one oven! haha. What are your plans for the Thanksgiving holiday?

Aaaand for the small talk portion of our show, we'll talk about the weather! Man it is getting cold outside. I can see that picture taking could be much more difficult this year. Sean is already getting fed up with having to stand outside to help me. But it's good for him right? Keeps him stronger? Yep, that's what I tell myself (and him) :).
At any rate, layering is a girl's best friend and I couldn't help but layer this fun, floral blouse of my great-grandmother's the other day. I was on my way to a very small book signing of a local author, and I thought wearing glasses and a collar would fit the bill perfectly. This dress is such a fun, vibrant color. Much more coral in person, not as red as these photos would make it out to be. I already have tons of outfit ideas in my head for this baby.

So here's to a terrific Tuesday! It is my last day of school for the week and Sean took the day off as well, so I hope we can get a lot of work done around the house. Better scoot!

God Bless,
KJA

1930's Hat

A couple of weekends ago Sean and I had fun at my nephew's third birthday party! We got to see all our family and just have a grand time. I have been slacking on getting photos edited, so hopefully I will post some of the family tonight or tomorrow :). There are some real gems in the bunch! I wanted some nice snaps of Sean and I because Selfies just don't cut it for me. It always takes some doing to get a nice photo (see exhibit A below), but I think we got a couple of keepers.

I wore this stunning 1930's hat that day. It was from the bunch of hats I received from my friend Kim. I'm not sure she knew she had this hat among them. There is an NRA Blue Eagle label on the inside, which means that the hat was made sometime between 1933-1935. The NRA was the National Recovery Administration. It was established during the depression to ensure that businesses were using fair practices during that time, but it was eventually declared unconstitutional due to the fact that businesses not sporting the label were being boycotted and losing their business. I am immensely giddy to have this hat in my possession. Not only is it in pristine condition, but the fact that it has survived from the depression era is incredibly amazing to me. This hat is definitely my prized possession at the moment.
I haven't had much time to do so, but I did add a few hats to my Etsy Shop, Midwest Charm Vintage! I will be adding more in the coming days, but there are a few winter hats to get you started. And just for all of you Thanksgiving shoppers, I am having a sale until December 5th! You can take 15% off of your order by using the coupon code CHARMTHANKS15.

I hope you have a splendid day! I want to thank those of you who voted for me in the Modcloth competition. As far as I know I came in fourth place, I will know for sure on Monday. It was a fun thing to be a part of and to be recognized in that way was very uplifting to me. I will be posting the video I made later this week, because I think you'd all have a good laugh about it. :)

God Bless!

Modcloth's Snapshot-To-Studio Contest!

Hello friends of mine! I have some very exciting news to share with all of you today. Modcloth is currently holding a contest called Snapshot-to-Studio where contestants submitted photos to their style gallery throughout the months of October and November. The finalists were selected from this group of photos submitted. The top 8 were asked to make a video showing their style and personality-and I am one of the finalists!
The top 8 finalists are now going to be voted on by the public and the photograph with the most 'loves' gets a photoshoot with Modcloth! I don't think I can accurately relay to you the dream it would be to have a photoshoot with a clothing company which I have adored for years. And what a great opportunity it would be for me to get out of my comfort zone, and meet new people while doing something I love!

If you feel so inclined, would you pretty please follow this link and click the 'love' button on my picture? You could also share it on your facebook or with anyone you know! I will need all the help I can get because I am up against 7 other gorgeous ladies who are trying to win as well. The voting is open from now until Friday at noon, so please don't miss a chance to vote for me-it will only take about ten seconds of your time.
Here is the link:

Thank you so much for thinking of me and doing this, I am incredibly appreciative of your support and so humbled by the opportunity to even be a finalist-I was not expecting it! I will share the video that I made for you all later, I think you would enjoy it :)
God has blessed me richly in this life and I am so grateful for every chance He gives me to spread His joy with others!

Psalm 95:1-2
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

Little Hill

Hello friends! I meant to post this weekend, but at the last minute I was asked to complete a video project which I spent nearly all weekend working on (more on that later)! I did have a bit of time to take photos Saturday however, after having a lovely hot-chocolate date with a good friend of mine! She is someone I was friends with in high school, and as it turns out we ended up in the same town and have been attending Bible study together. It was so nice to just sit and chat for a couple of hours over delicious Panera pastries and hot chocolate. Just what we needed :)

I have finally succumb to the chilly temps and pulled out a few pairs of tights. This mustard colored pair seemed fitting for a fun day! As it turns out, my friend ended up wearing the same color yellow pants! So we matched and it was a funny coincidence :). The blazer is a piece I thrifted a couple of years ago and have gotten countless wears out of it. I bet my cost per wear at this point is pennies. Check out this post I did on Flock Together a while back that shows some of the other ways I've worn it!

I hope you have a splendid Monday! I am enjoying the mild weather and lovely fall sun that has come our way. It should make for quite a pleasant afternoon, yes?

God Bless!

What I Wear To Work

Here's another outfit I wore to work! This is one of my favorite tops. I thrifted it for a dollar and although it is flannel, it has some feminine details to it, which I love. Simple tops, jeans, and boots are my uniform for school as I spend a lot of time outside with the kids running around and whatnot. These past few weeks have been incredibly busy! It feels like whenever I start to catch up on things, more things start popping up and I can't keep up! haha, such is life I suppose.

Hey, it's Thursday, which means it's almost Friday yay! Hey, that's how I get through my week, don't judge me :)

God Bless!

1 Peter 3:15-16
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
