Outfit: Denim Uniform

I keep coming back to a 1940's working girl look when I just need a simple every day outfit. Denim, a pair of sturdy boots, and a scarf in my hair is my go-to these days. I wore this to hang out with a couple of friends at our house a couple of weeks ago. We planned to have a fire and s'mores and all of that goodness, but of course it rained and we had to  do s'mores under our porch with our indoor s'mores maker. Not exactly the same thing, but it works for when you get rained out!

Outfit: Rainy Day

With all the rain we've been having the past few weeks there had to be one rainy day outfit in the bunch! I wore this to run errands on a rainy day with my little birdy raincoat and boots. Pretty simple!

Have you all heard of Birchbox before? It is a beauty box of 5-6 samples that you get in the mail each month so you can try out new products before you buy them. I have been getting it for just a couple of months now and I really like it so far! If you love makeup, hair, and body products than you will probably really love Birchbox. It's also only ten dollars a month! I got this lip balm from Pixi in my May box and I really love it. It is like a lipstick/balm in one so you get the moisturizing benefits with a lovely color as well! Yes please. Perfect for those every day errands where you don't want a heavy lipstick all over yo' face.

God Bless, Lovelies!

Outfit: Grandma's 1950's Pink Suit Set

Why hello! I am gone at camp, but I had some posts saved up for a special occasion, so I thought this was a good opportunity to use those up!
This is an ensemble I wore to church a couple of weekends ago. I got this rather astounding pink suit set that my grandmother made herself in the 1950's. I hadn't worn it until now because it was rather crumpled up and I had specific instructions from grandma NOT to iron this material. It still isn't perfectly wrinkle free, but I couldn't wait another moment to wear it. It is slightly too large in the shoulders for me, but pish posh I don't care! I love the shoulder/collar detailing, the fit of the waist/skirt, and the adorable little matching jacket with a peter pan collar! Oh grandma, can I just get in a time machine and see all of the things you saw while wearing this suit? I want to know!

Devotional: Combating Lies 15

My series right now is looking at different lies that we may believe about ourselves, and how to combat those lies using scripture. Here are number one, number two,  number three number fournumber fivenumber 6number 7, and number 8number 9 , number 10 and number 11 and number 12  and number 13 and number 14 if you are interested!

The fifteenth lie is this: I have no one to take care of me.

The truth is: I am protected/safe.

Key Scriptures:

Psalm 32:7-
For you are my hiding place;
    you protect me from trouble.
    You surround me with songs of victory.

Psalm 91-
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
    will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
    he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
    and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
    He will shelter you with his wings.
    His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
    nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
    nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
    though ten thousand are dying around you,
    these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes,
    and see how the wicked are punished.
If you make the Lord your refuge,
    if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
    no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
    to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
    so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
    you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
    I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
    I will be with them in trouble.
    I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life
    and give them my salvation.”

What powerful verses! I never have to worry about being alone or exposed to danger because even though things will undoubtedly happen in my life which overwhelm me, I can be confident that God will be with me during those times. I can be sure that the words of these verses are true and that I will be "rescued from every trap" if I just call on Him. Sometimes a Psalm is all I need for a little reminder :)

God Bless!

Friday Remix: Bird Dress

 Happy Friday! Today's remix is a simple little summer dress I got at Target a couple of years ago. Although it has spaghetti straps, which I tend to stay away from, it has been so versatile for layering and has a hi-lo hem, which I love! I haven't worn it recently, but I'm sure this summer I'll throw it on to run all of my errands and such because it is so comfy too.

Have a great weekend everyone! I will be heading to camp on Sunday, but I have some posts all lined up so I can still blog while I'm gone :)
God Bless!

Psalm 107:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

Outfit: 1940's Hair Inspired

Greetings and happy Thursday to you! This week is going much too quickly for my taste as I feel like I have so much to get done before I head off to camp next week to counsel. Where in the world is the summer going?! It is finally beginning to get warm too. Yesterday I just wallowed in the house trying to figure out why all I wanted to do was lay down sprawled out on the floor. Sean came home and checked the temperature and said, "It 84 degrees in here, why didn't you turn the air conditioning on?" haha, oooops! No wonder I had no motivation to do anything! We have tried to keep our house cool without the air on for as long as we could because, obviously we're cheapskates duh. :)

Anyway, I'm continuing to try out more new hairstyles and push the envelope just a bit here and there. I'll have to make this one my next tutorial as it was quite easily accomplished.
I actually had a dream last night that I cut off my hair up to my shoulders and I LOVED it. It really makes me want to go chop it now but I have commitment issues! Sigh. I would also have to re-learn a lot of my techniques that I've grown accustomed to with long hair.

Hope you have a splendid day my friends!
God Bless,
KJA
