2nd Annual Commemorative Air Force Dance

This weekend Sean and I attended our city's second annual Commemorative Airforce Hangar Dance to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the airport and honor aviation around the time of WWII. They showcase amazing planes at the event and we got to tour this one (which I cannot remember the name of sadly... D-W3? ). Eleanor Roosevelt had ridden this plane at one time and we got to see where she sat and tour the cockpit. It was pretty interesting.
We also got to take a little swing dancing lesson prior to the dance beginning and we learned a few turns so we could really dance when the band started! That was my favorite part of course. I love LOVE dancing probably more than anything else (I really need to buckle down and save up for some dance classes soon) and it was wonderful to have Sean know a few moves too so he could lead. I'm pretty sure he dislikes it quite a lot, but good thing he loves me so he put up with it, and with a smile on his face no less!

There was also a vintage limousine company with a beautiful car there that I couldn't resist posing by. I want to ride in it! I want it to be mine! Someone win the lottery and buy me this please?

I knew exactly what to wear when I found out we were going to the dance. This gorgeous blue satin dress which (with my limited knowledge of dating) I believe is circa the 1940's? I love the exaggerated sleeves, little collar, and waist detailing. I wanted to wear my blue satin hat with it as well, which is one of my very favorites. I had also been waiting for an occasion to wear my rhinestone necklace and earring set. I found it at a rummage sale ages ago, but never had a fancy enough affair to wear it to. It seemed the perfect time to do so!
I perhaps would have chosen different shoes to go with the ensemble, but I needed something to dance in, ok? :)

How was your weekend?

God Bless,
KJA

These photos are so vintage I'm gonna die! :D Seriously, I love these! I've been wanting to take swing lessons for long now, but I'm too shy and awkward for it :D
This dress is amazing, it's so lustrous, so shiny, you're dashing!

Your whole ensemble is fantastic, and I love your shoes! So gorgeous!

(And you're right on the dress! I'd guess mid-to-late 1940s. Apron front kinds of dresses like this were especially popular then!)
