Summer Flowers

Hello friends! I feel like this summer is simply flying by. When the summer began I wasn't sure what I was going to do with many of my weeks, but they've filled up so quickly I didn't have a chance to notice! I've been having four-hour evening play practices this week in preparation for a play I'm a part of. Our first practice was on Sunday, and we perform tomorrow evening! Yikes! I've been spending all my days running lines and practicing the dances/songs. I sure hope we can get it down before we have to perform! It is a play encompassing some history of the state of South Dakota, from Calamity Jane, to how Sioux Falls became the divorce capital of the nation in 1890. It should be fun and who doesn't like wearing head to toe prairie costumes? Nobody that's who.

I tried out yet another hairstyle! I'm having so much fun with this :) I really loved wearing this one and it's probably my favorite so far. I just love experimenting with my hair because it never turns out the same way twice. Even if I use the same technique it will turn out looking differently for some reason or another. With this style I felt so fancy, and had to add the black cherry lipstick for that 1930's/40's feel. I think this dress is actually from the 80's but meh-that's the fun of vintage fashion right? You can make any garment into what you want, simply by the way you style it! Plus, the color and pattern of this dress have always delighted me. What delights me even more is that it was 60 cents. Ahhh the tightwad in me has a smile on it's face :D
Speaking of thrifting, I spent the day on Tuesday with a few friends going to various thrift stores in the area that I hadn't been to yet. I have to tell you it was probably a bad thing because now I have so many more favorite spots! I got a couple of really neat things I can't wait to show you :)

I love that the flowers in our backyard are blooming now, the yellow looks so nice against our blue walls! I couldn't resist editing a few of my shots as well. This summer has given me a bit more time to devote to this photography thing and I'm definitely loving it :)

Enjoy your day, and be sure to check back on Friday because I'll have a hair tutorial for you on how I pinned up this hairdo I'm sporting!

God Bless,
KJA

Stunning hair! Also, even though you think it is an 80s dress, it has that forties vibe with the shoulders being emphasized Joan Crawford-style!

Your garden and new home look lovely.

This hair style is fantastic on you and the dress works great with it :) And the pictures totally remind me of a modcloth photo shoot.

So many things to say about this post that I gotta break it doooooown!

1) Those pictures of you lying in the grass are stunning. You are such a vintage, classy beauty, Katie!! I can't stress that enough. Your hair looks incredible and I loooove your bold lipstick. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!

2) Eek! I'm so glad that your rehearsing is going well and keeping you busy. That's so awesome how you've found something to occupy your free hours. I especially love that it's a historical play... about where you live! How neat is that! Maybe you learned some neat things you didn't know? :D

3) Thrifting, yay! I can't wait to see what you got. Whenever I come on your blog I always dream of finding pretty things at thrift stores... maybe soon I'll just dedicate an ENTIRE day to nothing but thrifting and drive from store to store and hopefully end up with a goodie or two!

Have a most wooooonderful rest of the week, Katie!! :D <3 heartsheartshearts
