Rummaging

Last Saturday the husband and I decided to drive around for a bit of rummaging. There are always garage sales going on in the summertime and we always stop for them if we can. You just never know what you will find! Well, we made it to just one house before we found the most amazing and intricate piece of furniture, it is something that I've wanted for ages-a beautiful vanity! The owner said that it is part of a set, but because they moved into a smaller house they didn't have room for all the pieces. I would have loved to see the other pieces that go with this vanity. She also said it is well over 100 years old and it is in wonderful shape. We have to fix one bare spot on the front (as you can see) but Sean thinks he'll be able to glue the piece back on since it just came off accidentally when they moved it into our car. Other than that it is simply perfect and I've been sitting on the bench like an idiot just staring at it with a grin on my face. Plus, it was only $150! For a piece of furniture like this that is a steal. She said she had people offering her $50-60 for it. That is a shame! If I were to find this at an antique shop it would be anywhere from $500-1000 easily. I can't wait to decorate the room now and add a little flair...now if only I could scrounge up some decorating skills I would be set! Anyone want to offer their services? Haha.

Anyway, I went pretty comfy for our outing in a fabulous pair of high waisted jeans I just stole from my sister, and this vintage top I thrifted ages ago. Not to mention, these loafers are becoming my new favorite shoe, I wear them with basically everything. Every piece I'm wearing is vintage or hand me down (except the sunnies)! Can't beat that in my book :)

Happy Wednesday! I am so excited, tonight we're going to check out Despicable Me 2 with some great friends I haven't seen in a while. It will be so much fun and I loved the first movie so much, I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Plus check back Friday, I'm gonna attempt another fun hair tutorial for you all :)
And DON'T FORGET to enter the Firmoo Giveaway everyone! You could win some seriously cute pairs of glasses :)

God Bless!

Eeeee! I'm in love. That vanity is seriously such a perfect find--I'm so glad you stumbled upon it and got a great deal!

Hehe, don't you just love wearing borrowed clothes? I love stealing things from my mom because it's like I have two closets in one! That is a super stylish striped top and your cute cat bag made me smile. Of course, we can't forget those chic sunnies! And I don't blame you for wearing those shoes a lot--they're so stylish and comfy-looking. Who can beat that?

By the way, I scrolled down to your past post and almost swooned when I saw your bag. Fun tan bags are the best versatile staple. AND WE'RE TOTALLY TWINNING IN THE WAY WE THINK. I reeeaaally want to try a pixie cut but I'm terrified of looking like a man haha! Right now, I think I'll try to grow my hair much longer so I can donate it and try my pixie. But trying a wig doesn't sound so bad haha. Let me know what you end up deciding, lovely Katie!

Wow, you are so right, that vanity would easily go for $500 in an antique store - I work at one! Jealous of your amazing find!

Oooh, I remember you posting a pic of that vanity set! Man, it's SO pretty. I would love to paint it antique white and scrub the white off a little around the edges to give it a super vintage vibe, then put a few tinted glass bottles on it, some filled with a flower or two, along with some vintage perfume bottles... I'll be your decorator, Katie! wahahaha

Oh, that top is way neat! The colors in it are so funky. I dig. :)

Oh my goodness! The vanity is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! People offering only $50?! Like you said, in an antique shop, that thing would be super pricey! Gorgeous!!

And you look so cute, as always. Looks like a comfortable outfit but stylish as well! Those can be hard to come by.

Happy fourth of July to you! :)
