Outfit: 1940's Inspired Jacket

I am so loving the cooler summer we've been having. I love to wear some sort of a jacket with every outfit, so the 70 degree temps truly have been my friend. I got this jacket as part of a suit when I was about 14 from JC Penny. It is where I used to buy all of my suits/nice clothes for debate and oral interp competitions. This suit was quite 1940's inspired, but I didn't know it really at the time. I am so glad I held onto it because I still adore this little jacket! Paired with a nice gibson roll/pompadour hairstyle and some espadrilles I felt positively ready for a day spent having a date with one of my best friends.

Outfit: Pink and Black

Here is a little number I wore for a girls' night a few weeks ago. I got this printed skirt years ago when I was in college and have only worn it a handful of times. It is just so interesting on its own that I never know quite what to pair with it. It seems that simple was the way to go with a black tee and summer tote, but I still have no idea how to remix it further. I suppose next time I try to wear it I'll end up with clothes thrown all over my house (a common occurrence) and still end up in a black t-shirt. It's the cycle I'm used to :)

Outfit: Kitties and Turtles

Hello there! Happy Monday friends :) I took these photos a couple of weeks ago and they are just so cute I couldn't wait to share them. That's because Sean and I took our kitties outside for a bit and took some darling pictures of them! I know everyone thinks this about their pets, but my kitties are definitely the cutest out there ;) hehe.
The gray one is Ferb and the tiger striped kitty is Phineas. They just turned a year old at the end of June so they are mellowing out considerably, but sometimes still like to spaz out at 5 am. From what I've heard that's pretty normal kitty behavior though. I just wish I had abnormal kitties some mornings...:)

Devotional: Combating Lies 16

My series right now is looking at different lies that we may believe about ourselves, and how to combat those lies using scripture. Here are number one, number two,  number three number fournumber fivenumber 6number 7, and number 8number 9 , number 10 and number 11 and number 12  and number 13 and number 14 and number 15 if you are interested!

The sixteenth lie is this: I am unloved.

The truth is: I am incredibly loved.

Key Scriptures:

Romans 8:38-39-
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:4-5-
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

Ephesians 5:1-2-
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

John 15:9-
I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.

1 Corinthians 13:13-
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Feeling unloved is one of the most debilitating feelings there is. When you feel as though you are alone and there is no one in your life who loves you (however untrue that may be) you begin to deteriorate rather than flourish. There is a reason why love is considered 'the greatest' even according to the Bible.
I'm not speaking necessarily of love from a significant other, but from relationships in general. Maybe a parent has made you feel unloved, or friends in your life. Just trust this: Jesus wants to have a relationship with you that is full of love. Unconditional love. See, no matter how much we can love another person, human to human, we can never love another like Jesus Christ has loved us. He poured out every drop of himself so that we could be with Him someday in Heaven because He LOVES us so much. No matter what we've done, or what decisions we've made he will always, ALWAYS love us. Nothing can separate us from it, and that is a pretty great feeling, don't you think?

Remix: Blue Floral Dress

This vintage, floral dress has certainly gotten a workout in my wardrobe. I got it at a thrift store years ago for something like 40 cents and it is made of a very thin material. It is definitely from one of the more recent decades, but the print and puffed sleeves allow me to create more nostalgic looks with it. I almost like it better as a top than a dress and it has been so versatile.

Psalm 18:30
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
