Outfit: Sidewalk Arts Festival

Hello there gems! I had quite the busy weekend. It was my sister's birthday so we had the family over and took the nephews for a trip to the apple orchard! It was a blast, to say the least. I haven't had the chance to edit pictures yet because yesterday the hubby's family got together as his father is helping us paint our house this week! So I will post orchard pictures on Wednesday :)
So, here are some photos of what I wore to a sidewalk arts festival that was in town a couple of weeks ago. The streets of our downtown were filled with vendors selling all of their crafts and such. It is always a fun event, even though I never buy anything. It is just fun to walk around and see all of the unique things people can make! There is one item I want to save up for and buy next year though. There is a vendor who makes jewelry out of vintage silverware, and their bracelets are just the most beautiful thing, the handles of the spoons wrapped and held together with a bit of chain. So lovely!

It turned out to be too warm for a jacket, but I couldn't help it, this tan coat just seemed to  fit the aesthetic I was going for, which is more and more becoming a 16 year old girl in 1943. The age my soul is. You know how that goes.

Have a great start to your week friends! I will try to be more diligent about posting this week, but I have a crazy one ahead of me, so we will see how that goes.

God Bless!

Remix: 1950's Yellow Blouse

Today's remix is this darling 1950's blouse of my grandmother's. It is such a pretty color and I have always enjoyed the pretty collar detailing. I was surprised I only have four remix photos this time, since I love this top so much. I suppose it's one of those "special" pieces that I have a fear of wearing too often for fear it will wear out/get ruined or some such nonsense.

I thought I'd rustle up some cute alternatives to this blouse for you all to look at, they're so perfect for the coming fall weather, all in a pretty mustard yellow shade!

Outfit: Tropical Snood

Hello again! Another week is half over and there is so much left to do! It seems like it is that way with every week though. Monday I feel like I need to rest from the weekend, so I am never very productive. By Tuesday I feel guilty for not being productive and by Wednesday I am kicked into high gear. Then comes Thursday and I wind down for the weekend, so. You know. Today is productivity day I guess. Let's see what I can accomplish :)

I am debuting another pair of my great-grandfather's trousers today! They are so stupidly comfortable and I don't care if they make me look wide as a mack truck because I love them. I thrifted yet another tropical blouse, this one in the prettiest shades of purple, green, and blue. It was perfect to wear out with my new snood! I found the snood from a seller on ebay and I really adore it. It is a nice alternative to a scarf and will be so nice for the warmer months too. Plus it is the prettiest blue shade I have ever seen.

God Bless,
KJA

2nd Annual Commemorative Air Force Dance

This weekend Sean and I attended our city's second annual Commemorative Airforce Hangar Dance to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the airport and honor aviation around the time of WWII. They showcase amazing planes at the event and we got to tour this one (which I cannot remember the name of sadly... D-W3? ). Eleanor Roosevelt had ridden this plane at one time and we got to see where she sat and tour the cockpit. It was pretty interesting.
We also got to take a little swing dancing lesson prior to the dance beginning and we learned a few turns so we could really dance when the band started! That was my favorite part of course. I love LOVE dancing probably more than anything else (I really need to buckle down and save up for some dance classes soon) and it was wonderful to have Sean know a few moves too so he could lead. I'm pretty sure he dislikes it quite a lot, but good thing he loves me so he put up with it, and with a smile on his face no less!

There was also a vintage limousine company with a beautiful car there that I couldn't resist posing by. I want to ride in it! I want it to be mine! Someone win the lottery and buy me this please?

I knew exactly what to wear when I found out we were going to the dance. This gorgeous blue satin dress which (with my limited knowledge of dating) I believe is circa the 1940's? I love the exaggerated sleeves, little collar, and waist detailing. I wanted to wear my blue satin hat with it as well, which is one of my very favorites. I had also been waiting for an occasion to wear my rhinestone necklace and earring set. I found it at a rummage sale ages ago, but never had a fancy enough affair to wear it to. It seemed the perfect time to do so!
I perhaps would have chosen different shoes to go with the ensemble, but I needed something to dance in, ok? :)

How was your weekend?

God Bless,
KJA
