Incognito

I love spring because I get to wear trench coats. There really is a small window in weather when I am able to wear them and I take every opportunity. I just feel so mysterious for some reason, and it always makes a look more classic. I got this particular trench at a rummage sale for 25 cents. I think it was a worthwhile purchase ;)

I got this cashmere turtleneck from a thrift store for a dollar some time ago. It is Lord and Taylor brand, which I hadn't heard of until I began watching Project Runway recently. I love how soft it is, even though the color makes me quite pale. I also pulled out some shoes I haven't really worn since high school. I got away from wearing pointed toe shoes for a while, and these are some killers. I love them though.

I'm going to be working on a service project with my students over the coming week to collect items for our local animal shelter. School ends on May 17th already, so I'm thinking of collecting until then and hopefully the kids get excited about it. Kids love animals, so I'm sure they'll love to get involved! I wish I could take the kids on field trips or something, but because we're an afterschool program where the parents come to pick them up at various times, we can't leave the school grounds. I would love to take them to the animal shelter to get more connected with it!

Well all, have a blessed day! Sean and I have an appointment with the inspector of our home, so I'm excited to go back to the house today and look things over again! Very soon it will be ours :)

God Bless!

House Happy

As I mentioned in my last post, Sean and I finally found a house that we love and are in the process of purchasing it! I had to share just a few photos of the house because I think the color is so fun and I really love it. We need to do a few things before moving in, but our closing date is May 31st! I'm so excited to move it's kind of ridiculous. I know that home ownership comes with a lot of work, but I'm willing to do that if it means no more apartment living. I'm tired of hearing everyone around me at all hours of the night. It will be so amazing to have our own space.
We need to fix the roof before we move in and we also need to do some painting inside, as I really hate some of the colors (the master bedroom has a wall painted black...whaa?), but luckily we have about a month to move in after our closing date, so that gives us a little bit of time to play with.

I never expected to find a house in our price range with such a nice deck on the back! It will be great for having family over, and it also has a rather large backyard, which was one of the things on my list of needs :)

Don't even get me started on this bathroom. How cool is that to have two sinks? We didn't expect to get such a large bathroom in our house, but I won't complain that's for sure!

I love this entryway also, they even have a place built in for all of my shoes! Now if that's not serendipity...

Here is the master bedroom...Sean doesn't mind the paint job...but someone please back me up that it is butt ugly! Light blue and black I love in clothing, but not so much in our bedroom. I do love the little lights above the bed though, will be nice for late night reading!

So there you have it! I really can't wait to begin packing, and I've already started boxing up my clothes and such.
I'm so grateful to God for being with us throughout this difficult process. There were many times when I questioned whether we should even be looking for a house, but God was so faithful in finding us something that really encompassed everything we were looking for! This house is like a combination of all the good things we saw while we were looking rolled into one house just for us!

Thanks for indulging me a bit :)
God Bless!

Joshua 24:15
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Hair-Inspired

I was feeling very Victorian on this rainy Saturday. I find more and more that my hairstyle dictates what kind of outfit I want to wear. I've been experimenting a lot lately with my hair and it always puts in a different state of mind. I've been working on tutorials, so hopefully I will have some up soon!

This blouse is probably the most dreamy, silky thing I've ever worn. I felt so fancy in it all day long. It's just a synthetic polyester, but it mimics a satin-y texture so well.

I have some exciting news to share! Sean and I got an offer accepted on a house! I will share more pictures and details of the house soon, but we are so very happy about it. It is a really cute house painted in a light blue color and it's a good compromise between the two of us and what we like. I can't wait to share more with you all soon!

God Bless!

Wide Leg Trousers

I am quite behind on blogging, but I've had this set of photos in my drafts for a while, so I thought I'd finally post them!

I really like wide legged trousers, but I don't wear them very often because I have to wear super high heels with them! I always feel very glamorous in them though, like I'm channeling Katharine Hepburn.
I can't believe there are only two more weeks of school left! Hopefully then, things will slow down a bit and I can focus more on this little ol' blog of mine-maybe give it some TLC :)

Also, Flock Together is having an amazing Modcloth giveaway today! Be sure to head on over and enter!

Have a great day everyone!

Snow on May Day

That's right folks, on May 1st it rained it the middle of the night, and then gave us a couple of inches of snow by the morning! Only in South Dakota....are any of you experiencing this crazy spring weather? If you can't see, there is a definite lake behind me in our yard. These are the best photos I could get under the circumstances ;) Time to bundle up once again!

And yep, that is totally a paper plate in our yard just hanging out. If you look closely the grass is full of cigarette butts too. Our neighbors are pigs, just another reason we're looking for a house to move into! Speaking of which, I wore this outfit to do a bit more house hunting today also. It's looking up actually! I'll let you know soon how things go....:)

Have a Blessed May Day friends!
