1930's Hat

A couple of weekends ago Sean and I had fun at my nephew's third birthday party! We got to see all our family and just have a grand time. I have been slacking on getting photos edited, so hopefully I will post some of the family tonight or tomorrow :). There are some real gems in the bunch! I wanted some nice snaps of Sean and I because Selfies just don't cut it for me. It always takes some doing to get a nice photo (see exhibit A below), but I think we got a couple of keepers.

I wore this stunning 1930's hat that day. It was from the bunch of hats I received from my friend Kim. I'm not sure she knew she had this hat among them. There is an NRA Blue Eagle label on the inside, which means that the hat was made sometime between 1933-1935. The NRA was the National Recovery Administration. It was established during the depression to ensure that businesses were using fair practices during that time, but it was eventually declared unconstitutional due to the fact that businesses not sporting the label were being boycotted and losing their business. I am immensely giddy to have this hat in my possession. Not only is it in pristine condition, but the fact that it has survived from the depression era is incredibly amazing to me. This hat is definitely my prized possession at the moment.
I haven't had much time to do so, but I did add a few hats to my Etsy Shop, Midwest Charm Vintage! I will be adding more in the coming days, but there are a few winter hats to get you started. And just for all of you Thanksgiving shoppers, I am having a sale until December 5th! You can take 15% off of your order by using the coupon code CHARMTHANKS15.

I hope you have a splendid day! I want to thank those of you who voted for me in the Modcloth competition. As far as I know I came in fourth place, I will know for sure on Monday. It was a fun thing to be a part of and to be recognized in that way was very uplifting to me. I will be posting the video I made later this week, because I think you'd all have a good laugh about it. :)

God Bless!

Wow, I'm very impressed with how knowledgable you are about vintage hats, being able to know all that from a label :)

That purple cardigan looks absolutely snuggly, Katie! And man, I know what you mean about not getting pictures edited and such. Usually I have a few backups pictures but as of right now I've got NADA! None. haha. Go us.

Have a beautiful weeek!
