Tiptoe through the Tulips

This outfit was what I wore last Saturday when I was all over the place with my friends in the cities. We did a bit of breakfasting, recorded a fun song (see yesterday's post), hung out at the Mall of America, had some great barbecue for supper, and even some quality time just talking in the evening. A very full and fabulous day!
I have to say I was a bit disappointed at the mall. I guess I've gotten so into second hand shopping that real stores just don't do it for me anymore. For the most part the clothes are cheaply made and I always wonder about the origins of the clothing also. I really want to start knowing where my clothing comes from and that it was ethically made. Plus (duh) the mall was crazy busy because we went there on a Saturday. I just can't handle that high concentration of people. The day was made better spent with those I love though, so who really cares how the shopping went? Can you believe it-all I bought all weekend was a pearly beret (4 dollars!) and a bag of chewy sprees for the 6 hour drive (seriously why are those things so GOOOOD). I was a very good girl I must say.

I wore these loafers all weekend long. They are so very comfortable, I was pleasantly surprised about that! I love when I thrift shoes that actually have arch support and cushion in them. I'll take comfy leather shoes for four dollars any day!

Some other highlights of the day: We played 8bit Wheel of Fortune on our NES emulator on Saturday night. It came complete with a hilarious Vanna White and we got into teams to battle out the puzzles. There were some really hilarious NES games back in the day. We went through some favorites like Where's Waldo, and had a good laugh at the Barbie game too!
Also, us girls were getting antsy for some alone time so we told the guys we were just going to follow them back to their house, but we took a little hour and a half detour to get shamrock shakes and happy meals at McDonalds (for the record, I didn't eat anything there-I haven't eaten fast food in a couple of years!). We just sat in the booth talking about everything and it was so great to catch up sans testosterone. Sometimes girls just need alone time to gab :)

I have some pretty funny friends. This is a house of guys and they have the most amazing couch with TULIPS on it in their living room. Seriously I would have stolen it if it could have fit in our car. You boys better watch your backs. I'M COMING BACK FOR THE COUCH! But seriously though-the cutest thing ever.

Also, a big THANK YOU to my beautiful friend Rachelle for taking my photos! It was so much fun to do photoshoots with her and I wish I could just keep her in my pocket with me wherever I go :)

Hope you all have a lovely Friday! Any weekend plans for you guys and dolls?
God Bless!

I know, a lot of the clothes massmarketed today are such low quality :/ Which is why thrifting is definitely better! Haha, plus, who can beat $4 shoes?
The way you incorporate color into your outfits is always so livening Katie! These yellow tights go perfectly with the dress. Plus, nice layering with the cute blouse underneath.
Love that you girls took a detour - us gals definitely need our chats! Although wow...no fast food for several years? Major props to you!

Oh my gosh - I LOVE your birdy dress!! It is so adorable and looks fun with the yellow tights!!!

Sounds like such a fun weekend. And I agree about malls having less appeal to me with doing so much second hand shopping - but I'll be honest, I never loved the MOA even when I was more of a mall girl. It's just too big! There are a couple of other malls out in our suburbs I like better.

Oh and I forgot to say - that couch is EPIC. Epic. Awesome.

I want that coach too O_O It's so shiny!
You and your pretty dresses! I love your cute style!
And know what you mean about malls, I kind of hate them, hate the crowds and all the expensive, polished mannequins. I prefer second hand :)

Those guys have a tulipd couch?! Whaaat?! Yep, they must be a pretty rad bunch of dudes. I'd steal it, too. If only you could shrink it and dash away with it. So sneaky!

Your bright yellow tights are so much fun. You always know how to wear colored tights, Katie, and make me regret not wearing many of mine this winter! There's still hope for me before it warms up!

Yay for awesome pairs of thrifted shoes! I feel the same way about 'real stores' now that I do so much of my shopping second hand stores. I feel like I get so much more for my money when I buy second hand. I love the photos of you on the tulip covered couch.

I love this look, the pop of bright yellow is so wonderful and perfect for spring!! I love the pattern on your dress as well, so pretty. I like a bit of thrifitng and mall shopping, because with just one i find i'm lacking in certain departments but together they fulfill my wardrobe needs!

You look so adorable per usual! I am LOVING that coat - so cute.

Glad to hear that you had fun times with your friends. Shamrock Shakes - yum! I gave up fast food for the year, except for Shamrock Shakes. I'm not made of steel. :)

Also, pretty sure I want to steal their couch too. But, it would be much more creepy if I did that. :)

Have a wonderful weekend hon!

I totally understand how you feel about malls vs secondhand. The mall used to be my main place of spending money. Until I fell in love with secondhand - it is hard to buy clothes at regular price now. I also feel like everything looks so cheap and boring in boxed stores. Thrifts stores are more of an adventure than shopping spree!

You look beautiful. I really love how you've paired the sun colored tights with that dress. Too cute*

I'm just gonna steal your beautiful coat, okay? I think my favorite thing about this outfit is your combination of mint and mustard. They look so good together!
