A New Schedule

So, I know the month of new beginnings is nearly over, but I'm a procrastinator by nature so it really isn't surprising that it has taken me this long to get my act together. The winter months always have me off my blogging game, what with not being able to get outside to take photos very often. I am trying to schedule out my life. Currently I have to make lists for everything I do-lesson plans, house chores, etc. Why would I not apply that to blogging as well? I came up with a schedule that I think I can follow pretty well. There is more room for various content other than outfit posts and will give me a chance to change things up a bit around here! I'm still working on a new blog layout, but that can come at any time. I wanted to start this new schedule as soon as possible! Here is what you can expect from me from now on. I will try my best to follow!

Monday- Outfit Post

Tuesday- Tutorials or the Occasional Sponsored Post

Wednesday- Outfit Post

Thursday- Vintage Inspiration

Friday- Remix or Outfit Post

Suit Up

Hello all you doll-faced beauties! Remember when I talked about finding a great vintage shop a few days ago? Well, I found the most beautiful 1940's suit while there and even though it was a bit expensive, I had to try it on for fun. Well, we all know that's a bad idea because as soon as you see something on you, you're going to want to purchase it. Through my powers of persuasion I convinced Sean to let me have it as an early birthday present! I was so glad too, because I found out it was seriously on sale when I went to purchase it.

I had so much fun wearing it, and it will be wonderful to wear as separates as well.The asymmetrical buttons are in all in great condition, as is the embroidered beading at the hip-and it had it's original matching belt ahhh I was so giddy. I paired this with one of my favorite hats, which does need a bit of fixing, but I let that slide for a day. We went to take some photos at a park in town that has some interesting educational features for kids. This one in particular is called the "Whisper Shell." There is an identical one several yards away positioned exactly so that when one whispers into the middle your friend can hear you even from that far! It's a pretty neat gadget for sure.

The above photo shows the beautiful little clutch I picked up at the flea market a couple of weeks ago. I'm always giddy when I find one with special details. This one had an attached coin purse (wish several little stud earrings inside!), as well as pockets specifically designed for your mirror and lipstick. How perfect! Purses just aren't made like that anymore.
Below I'm whispering into the shell! I kind of felt like an old radio songstress. Now that would be a dream job if only I could make my time machine work!

The Cat's Meow

Why hello there! In today's post I am wearing my favorite Flock Together swap dress of all time. I mean come on, it is covered in kitties for goodness sake. Sammi of the Soubrette Brunette has the sweetest collection of novelty dresses I've ever seen and this beauty (which you can get at Modcloth!)  was no exception.  It is the 'cat's meow' so to speak with a perfect pattern and a fun, full circle skirt to boot. I swished around in it to go shopping at a flea market and showed off just what a crazy cat lady I am. 

I actually realized that I styled it similarly to how Sammi did in her post with a black belt and burgundy cardigan. I guess we both got the same vibe from the dress! Ashley of Southern (California) Belle recently styled it adorably for her pregnancy as well in this post. So much kitty inspiration :) !

I'm still working on revamping the ol' bloggy. It's proving more difficult than I thought! I need the web design fairies to visit me tonight while I sleep. Those exist, right?

Our Weekend+ SammyDress

Hello, hello! Have you all had a splendid weekend so far? Sean and I had a lovely Saturday (albeit a bit exhausting). We decided we were going to take the whole afternoon and visit several thrift stores that we hadn't been to in town. We certainly found some interesting things including this gem of a board game, which we unfortunately did not buy. We also found a fun s'mores maker for our 'kitchen gadgets we probably don't need' collection. We're coming along nicely on that one. 

I convinced Sean to drive us the long trek downtown to a new (to me) vintage shop a few friends had recommended to me. Boy did I geek out when I got there. She had so many lovely 1940's gems and I ended up coming home with two 1940's dresses and one gorgeous suit! When I went up to buy it turns out clothing was 25% off so I felt even better about my purchases. Plus I ended up talking to the shop owner for like 15 minutes at the till about how amazing the stories behind vintage clothing are and how she gets to talk to all these old ladies who bring in their old things. She even has pictures of owners wearing their clothing from decades past and ahhhh I could have talked to her for ages. I told her if she's ever hiring I want a job and I think I made a new friend :). She also had an Etsy shop just bursting full of treasures called Aviena, check it out, you will not be disappointed I promise!

 In other news, I am wearing my new favorite coat sent to me courtesy of Sammydress! They are a fast growing online retailer offering high quality products at amazing prices. They have such a range of styles from modern to vintage, it really was fun perusing their site.  Looking through their website I found so many super cute items, but fell in love with this jacket. It has an interesting texture and proportion to it. I love any item that has unique features, and the exposed seaming on this piece was so eye-catching I couldn't pass it up. It is quite versatile, and goodness, you can't beat the prices of this lovely stuff!

Happy sunny Sunday friends! It is in the 40 degree range here which is a full 80 degrees warmer than just a couple of weeks ago! Break out the bathing suits woohoo!
