Outfit: Preppy Vintage

Hey there cats! My computer has another lovely virus (seriously, I'm not sure how this keeps happening), so I am going to maybe take a little break from the computer while Sean works on fixing it. I thought I'd get one more post out before I need to hand it over to husband, so here is what I wore this weekend! I went to the flea market and got a ton of stuff done around the house, including freezing a ton of apple slices for use this fall and winter, apple crisp anyone?
Our church also moved into a new building, and I got to sing on the worship team for our first Sunday there! It was so much fun and I'm very excited for what's in store in the coming days.
Lastly, I got a second part time job! I will be working at our Washington Pavilion's children's science center teaching kid's experiments and (possibly?) handling reptiles and doing dissections as well. So I will start that the end of this week. Busy, busy!

Oh, and as you can see we are (almost) finished painting our house! It is a bright mint green shade called, 'Summer Sigh' and I think I like it? It isn't as minty as I would have liked and a bit too fluorescent, but I'm sure it will grow on me. It better because I convinced Sean that this is what I wanted after much hemming and hawing over the color. What do you think of it?

God Bless!

Remix: Polka Dot Skirt

Hello and happy Friday! It has been a trying week, so I couldn't be more happy to see the weekend on the horizon. Weekend busy-ness is always better than work week busy-ness, yes?
For today's remix I am focusing on this fun polka-dot skirt that I've had for over 5 years. I bought it (along with a matching brown polo) at a rummage sale with my grandmother and sister, and it was one of the very first vintage purchases I made, one that sparked a love for vintage clothing! I think I've gotten better at styling it over the years and it will always be a staple in my wardrobe (anything with polka dots likely holds that title :) )

Have a great day all!
God Bless,

Inspiration: Lucille Ball 2

Friends, I have about five posts worth of Lucille Ball photos saved up in my inspiration folder, so I hope you're not sick of her yet. I wanted to focus this post on the more casual side of her style, and a bit more fall inspired as well. I love to see old, glamorous movie stars dressed down, because then I get to see how they were as real people, and not just actors in a movie/in costume. I love all of the cute trousers, blazers, and headscarves in these photos, and of course all of the plaid, polka dot, and gingham too. Which is your favorite?

God Bless!

Outfit: Plaid, Capris, and Monopoly.

Happiest of Wednesdays to you! This past weekend Sean and I were able to have a game/grill night with some of our friends, and this is what I wore! It is one of my favorite outfits so far. I was able to snag these fabulous capris in a recent Modcloth sale and they are so wonderful. In hindsight I may have sized up (which is why I never shop in the internet) as they are very stretchy and tight, but I can't wait to wear them nonstop next summer (and the rest of this fall!).
I built up a few flannel plaid pieces this summer (mostly secondhand from family) that I've been waiting  for cooler weather to wear. This jacket is one I found at a thrift store and I just loved the large lapels and color scheme of it.

The game night was fun. We played Zelda Monopoly. My newfound friends found out how crazy I get when I play Monopoly, that is to say I am extremely competitive and I don't care if we've been playing for three hours, I won't go down without a fight. It's one of my vices. Everyone was waning pretty hardcore which means I basically won by default because everybody else was sick of playing. It came down to Sean and I, so we battled it out just the two of us until I crushed him by a stroke of luck (just kidding, I crushed him because I rock at Monopoly). Now you know never to engage in board gamer-y with the likes of me. You've been warned.

God bless, and happy October!

Matthew 5:11-12
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
