Casual Wear

Sean and I are really into vintage TV shows now. At the moment we're sitting here watching The Twilight Zone from the 60's.  It's actually a really great show. I've been getting so much fashion inspiration from The Dick VanDyke Show, The Bob Newhart Show, and I Love Lucy. I Love Lucy especially has amazing sartorial eye candy. The fashions were right in the mid 50's so Lucy wears a lot of full skirted dresses, tailored suits, and cute little jeans and trousers. Not to mention the collared blouses, scarves, loafers, and her curly hair done up in hats! The other day Ethel was wearing the most darling little romper and I was definitely swooning. Fashion aside, the comedy in these shows is spot on what I love and we'll pretty much watch anything from the 50's and 60's. How about you, do you have any favorite old TV shows?

I wore this to a game night with friends a few days ago. I'm trying to amass more casual vintage clothing  so I can wear it on more of a daily basis. When I found these jeans I was so excited because they were just what I was looking for. Paired with grandma's blouse, great-grandma's cardigan, and grandfather's old coat I had a fun and comfy look for a night of hanging out!

Sometimes casual looks are my favorite-how about you? Would you rather get all gussied up, or just stay in your comfy clothes?

Happy Tuesday!
God Bless,
KJA

Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I love this casual look on you! I've been looking for some fun vintage jeans, I haven't found the right pair yet, but I hope to at some point!

I like a mix of dressy and casual, I'm not sure which is my favorite.

And yes, the old TV shows are the best, I love the Dick Van Dyke show!

I really love The Nanny, and sometimes I think I draw fashion ideas from Fran. She's always wearing these quirky pieces with black tights and always looks so gooood! And to answer your question, I really like getting dressed up a bit. It always makes me feel more confidant, hehe, but that doesn't mean I don't love dressing more casual when needed!

That coat is seriously precious, Katie! I can't believe it's vintage because it looks so modern. Funny how that happens and how styles can transition so easily through time!

And yep, your cute heart blouse is lovely, too! I'm glad you had an awesome night out, and I hope the rest of your week goes the same. G

I grew up with Lucille Ball! Well, you know, not really (if only I was young during that decade), but my parents and I loved watching that show together. Along with The Honeymooners, The Andy Griffith Show, and Little House on the Prairie. Oh, and Three's Company was another favorite. Man, talking about these shows makes me want to have a marathon with them now...hehe
I've been attracted to more casual looks lately too. Something about knowing how to spice up day-to-day wear that's appealing :)
That's the thing about vintage, huh? Its usually for dressing up since they wore much nicer things daily in the past than we do now.
I'm loving this pretty coat Katie - such a bold piece that works perfectly for a day look!

You look so darling. It has been interesting hearing about your work towards getting the wardrobe you want with vintage, so I'll be looking forward to seeing you get more casual vintage clothing.

Also, I really loved I Dream of Jeannie as a kid. The styles are more sixties but still fun. And who didn't want to live in her bottle?

I love watching old movies, but mostly I love the series they show on "Viasat History"..or was it "Discovery channel", about actors from the 60's and 70's, it's very interesting.

This is super cute! I love the casual look but with vintage style. Those shoes and that blouse are amazing! I was obsessed with old TV shows in middle and high school- my favorite channel was NIck at Nite in the 80s when it played all the old 50s shows :)

Oh man, vintage TV shows is such a good idea! My mom and I are obsessed with the Golden Girls, which has the crazy 80's style, but still so silly!
