Casual
Since I've been so behind on things, I'll leave you with a few photos from the drafts of my post log. I wore this ensemble this fall when there was no snow on the ground yet! Quite a different sight from how it looks today :). I just wore a simple top, jeans, and vintage jacket for the day. I left my remote for the camera at home accidentally, so these photos are the product of me hitting the shutter button and then running and posing in three seconds, haha. It didn't quite work out the best.
Did you all have a wonderful Christmas? I am at my in-laws this weekend celebrating with them. There are plans later to have a 'board game exchange'. All of us bought board games and we're going to play a game to see which one we;ll keep. Since I love playing games I thought it was a wonderful idea and I can't wait to see what we'll end up with! What are some of your favorite games? Do you like the classics such as Scrabble and Monopoly? Or are you a fan of new-fangled games like Cranium, and The Game of Things? I love both!
Have a happy weekend!
God Bless,
KJA

I'll Have a Blue Christmas
Why hello there! The other night Sean and I attended his work Christmas party. You get lovely nighttime photos taken in my entryway, hope you don't mind :)
I love getting to dress up for parties and such, even if they only come around once or twice a year. This time I found a gorgeous blue satin dress at my favorite thrift store. It was $6.99. I was pretty proud of myself! The pictures don't do it justice, but it is definitely one of the best dresses I have ever worn. It is so comfortable, and the excuse to wear heat-to-toe satin doesn't come along as often as one would like. A Christmas party was the perfect occasion! I donned my favorite vintage hat and a red wool coat which belonged to my grandmother, and I was ready to do a bit of socializing. And I do mean 'a bit'. Social functions really wear me out-anyone else with me on that one? At any rate, it was nice to meet Sean's coworkers and be able to put faces to the names of the people he talks about at his job.
Well, I'm having another busy week ahead before Christmas vacation commences! Tonight I'm doing some voice work for a human trafficking awareness project as well as working on tying blankets for project warm-up with my students. Tomorrow I will be shopping for cookie decorating supplies and baking about 5 dozen Christmas cookies for my students' party on Thursday as well as prepping for parents to come visit Kid's Inc.! Friday I work a special day at a different school, and then we have our family Christmas on Saturday! Whew I will be looking forward to a bit of relaxation at the end of this week :)
Have a blessed day!

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Girl's Night
Hello there. I hope you're having a good weekend! I am currently driving home to attend a funeral, but I thought I'd share this outfit from girl's night this week. We met at this fancy pastry shop downtown (CH Patisserie) to exchange ornaments with one another. I got this really cute angel ornament which looks perfect on our tree! The pastry shop was such a neat experience because the chef is one of the top ten pasty chefs in America, and I found out that he actually won Top Chef Pastry a few years ago. He came out and talked with us which was nice. The desserts were amazing too. I had my first macaroon (I tried chocolate!) and also a chocolate pecan tart. They were very artfully crafted and beautiful. I would definitely visit there again because you don't get to experience food like that every day! It was a fun night.
These photos are quite dark, we didn't quite make it outside in time for pictures. I always forget how dark it gets so early-this was at 4:30pm!
God Bless!

50th Anniversary of Doctor Who
So, these pictures have taken me forever to post, but I wanted to share them anyway! A few weeks ago was the 50th anniversary special of little show called Doctor Who. Because it was such a special event the show came to theatres for one night only! In fact, in my city it sold out so quickly (we got tickets weeks in advance) they had to add a second showing. I guess there are some Whovians in South Dakota! At any rate I knew I wanted to dress the part as soon as I saw this darling Tardis dress on sale at Her Universe. I had to have it! It didn't show up until the evening of the movie so I was very worried it wouldn't get there on time. But Sean had it laying out for me when I got home from work! I quickly threw on a bow tie, collared shirt, and sonic screwdriver and we were out the door. I wish I would have taken some pictures of other people who dressed up as different characters. There were a couple of Tom Baker's, and some Daleks, and even a couple of fez wearers!
The show was absolutely wonderful and hilarious. I told Sean I would love to watch every episode in theatres!
Have a wonderful day!
God Bless,

Seaming
How are you beauties doing today? Everything is fine and dandy here as we just put lights up on our Christmas tree and blogging by Christmas tree light is pretty beautiful, I have to say. I think we're going to forgo our traditional ornaments this year in favor of some cheap globe ornaments to see how the kittens react for their first year. They've been doing alright, other than eating off the bottom branches of the tree, haha. We're working on it. I have our water bottle set to jet-stream so I can pretty much get them from across the room if they are being naughty.
I braved the snow for some photos on Sunday. It is pretty frigid out there so I wore my warmest wool coat and my new oxford booties to keep the snow out. I also found these fabulous seamed tights on black Friday at Charlotte Russe! Sean and I are NOT black Friday shoppers, but we had a few things we needed to go out for in the evening and popped by the mall just out of curiosity. I picked up two pairs of these seamed tights at five bucks each! I'm going to have so much fun with them this winter :)
I also finally got around to wearing my favorite vintage hat find. This gorgeous fur hat with satin bows is so very fun to wear. I actually wasn't sure whether the bows were supposed to go in the back or the front, but I decided I liked them in the front best. I put off wearing a lot of vintage accessories for years because I was perplexed on how to wear them, until I just decided that I didn't care anymore. Even if I don't wear them correctly I'm creating my own feel with the piece, and that's the point of personal style, isn't it? Have you ever bought an item you were unsure how to wear?
God Bless,

Meet Our Wall
Hello, hello! With temperatures below zero beginning, I'm going to have to start taking my photos indoors on a frequent basis. When we lived in our apartment I didn't have a nice indoor space for pictures, so I'm so glad I have a nice, blank wall for photos now that we moved into our house! I will definitely be utilizing it this winter.
I wore my favorite green hat and some two toned oxfords for a day of flea-marketing and running errands on Saturday. Sean and I also picked out our Christmas tree! Our living room already smells amazing. Aaaand our cats are already treating it like their own personal toy. We're going to have to have to see how they treat it once we have decorations on! It was difficult finding a tree because it was so bitterly cold out that Sean and I were both just like, "That tree looks passable, let's buy that sucker and get it home!" haha. Then when we got home we put it in its stand and drank some hot chocolate to warm up :) I'll be sure to have some pictures once we get it all full of lights and things!
God Bless,
