Pastels

It's sticking at a balmy zero degrees outside this week, so I have some photos saved up so that I don't have to traipse out and freeze my toesies off :) I wore this for Christmas Eve with my husband's family. I stayed cozy while we opened gifts, played a few games (catchphrase anyone?) and of course stuffed ourselves with too many treats. I also got to be acquainted with their new cat who was walking all over our bed at four in the morning, jumping on our pillows, and licking our hair, haha! Cats are something else I tell you, but I do love them even with their, erm...shall we say-quirks ;)

This is another of my grandmother's blouses. I have two that are this color and material, but the other has short sleeves and darting detail along the front. This one is actually in semi-rough shape although you can't tell it from the pictures. It has several small stains on it and some definite wear, but I love it just the same. The color is that vintage-y pastel that I love and it has the sweetest color and subtle puffed sleeves. I really need to pair it with more of my high waist-ed skirts, but I wanted to be super comfy for the car ride to my in-laws- so stretchy corduroys it was!

Gloves are a must from here on out, I'd say. I had these white ones pulled out and decided they matched my shoes, so why not :) Anything to keep the hands warm! The only thing I feel bad about is making the hubby take pictures of me in weather like this...he can't wear gloves to take photos so his hands get pretty freezing...Oh the things that man does for me!

And I wore my favorite sea foam green cardi to top it all off. I really do pair this thing with every item in my closet. Sea foam is the new black, haven't you heard? (Ok, it could be just me then... :) )

That is all for today, I've just been getting back into the work routine and such :) This weekend I am planning to post a 2012 outfit roundup so watch for that in the works! Until then,
God Bless and happy weekending!

Lamentations 3:22-24
The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!

Fun Details

I got this dress from my wonderful friend, Candice. She works at a clothing store (anybody have a Maurice's out there?), and said she thought of me when she saw this dress! How thoughtful is that? I really did love it as soon as I laid my eyes on it and I know it will be so versatile. I love the sheer sleeves, the length, the color and especially the shoulder detail! So pretty. I think this would be perfect to style up for New Year's Eve also. Instead of a blazer and oxford boots I would pair this with a great high heel and a blinged out belt. Eeps! So many possibilities :)

I'm also wearing the necklace I got from the FavoringBrave etsy shop! She makes the most beautiful jewelry and I would wear every single item in her shop. I've already worn this necklace so many times, it is classic but edgy and fun at the same time!

Have a happy day everyone!

Casual

I'm taking some time off from the computer this week, so I scheduled some posts ahead of time so I wouldn't have to worry about the 'ole blog. This is a very casual outfit I wore to hang out with my family a couple of weeks ago! I wore a scarf my mama gave me for Christmas last year, thrifted jeans, and some fun specs. I liked how my shades of green matched our carpet so well :)
I hope you had a blessed Christmas day and I'm so excited for New Year's coming up! I have the perfect outfit planned to wear and I also get to see some wonderful friends of mine! Can't wait :)

God Bless!

Christmas Eve

Happy Christmas Eve! I hope you are having a wonderfully lovely day and wish many blessings upon you :)
I just can't stop thinking around this time what an amazing night that must have been so many years ago when Jesus was born (even though I know this is not the real date of His birth...bear with me). The picture the Bible paints is so vivid and lovely. The wise men that traveled so far to worship the new baby, the poor shepherds who may have lived alone their whole lives-but got to be witness to the greatest even in history. It is purely magical.

Luke 2:11-14
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Oh, go ahead-just read all of Luke chapters 1 and 2. You won't regret it :)

Because Christmas has truly descended upon us I had to take my last opportunity to pair red and green together. In a few days that will no longer be acceptable! Also since it was 7 degrees out when I wore this outfit, I had to put on my giant parka. I just recently bought this coat because I've been living in denial for several years about the fact that it gets absurdly cold in the wintertime. Now that I have to stand outside with my kids for recess I decided that I needed an actual warm coat. This one fit the bill!

The Tablet of My Heart

This sweater is one of my favorite thrifted pieces. I found it in the vintage section with the little kids' clothes. It's size makes it perfect as a little sweater over dresses and high waisted shorts. Plus it is so warm and cozy, and who doesn't love baby duckies? I wore it with my rust colored tights, burgundy dress, and mustard beret. I've found that mixing and matching colors is one of my favorite parts about putting an outfit together. I am so much more adventurous than I used to be and while I've had plenty of 'misses' from experimentation, it has also led to many wonderful combinations which I would not have otherwise paired together.

I am loving these glasses more and more each day I wear them. I was planning on switching back to my contacts soon, but I just find that glasses are so much easier to deal with and you can take them off to rest your eyes any time you want, unlike with contacts. I guess this means I'm getting old. I used to never understand why people would wear their glasses over wearing their contacts-as kids we think glasses are super dorky or something.  Now I love glasses! I have way more pairs than I'll ever need and I love how they can become another accessory to play around with. So much fun.

So, my hair decided to be wavy today! It has a mind of its own and it rarely tells me what's going on with it. I slept with my hair in a half bun last night after washing it. This morning I switched to a full twisted bun and when I took it out it was wavy and poofy! I love it when my hair acquires a bit of texture. Give me frizzy, big hair over straightened, limp locks any day.

I thought I'd throw another color into the mix with a red coat to finish off the look. I loved how the burgundy, rust, and red were all similar shades, but different enough that it added a bit of dimension and character. Plus this coat is the coziest thing on the planet. Since it belonged to my over 6 foot tall grandfather the arms are super long on me and it gives it a bit of an oversized look. Perfect for running errands (and staying warm!).
After running errands today, Sean and realized that we don't really want to leave the house again until Christmas is over.  We live right near a  mall and the traffic is ca-razy right now with it so near to Christmas. This is why I try to do all my shopping during the week so I don't have to contend with people! Anyone else out there a self-proclaimed introverted hermit? This girl!

Proverbs is such a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I loved this verse  which talks about writing on the tablet of your heart. I think that is such a great way to describe how we should treat our thoughts and feelings-as if they are etchings which will stay with us forever. That is why we should think on good things like faithfulness and love toward one another. What we write on our hearts is permanent and will continue to affect us and the way we think/act in our lives.

Proverbs 3:3-4
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Hope you beat the craziness and get a  bit of time to relax in the next few days.
Happy Sunday!
God Bless,
KJA
