Black Cherry

Do you ever just put on an outfit and immediately feel wonderfully exactly like YOU? I wish I had this outfit in a bunch of different colors/combinations because it just made me feel good. It was as if all of my favorite things culminated into one perfect look. A new shade of black cherry lipstick, hair actually done up for once in my life, a simple dress with a special collar, and some vintage footwear too!
Lipsticks are a funny thing for me. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm kind of on a lipstick kick lately. I never bought any in previous years because I was always afraid of commitment when it came to the color. I had no idea what looked good on me. It's a family trait with my sisters and I that any lipstick we put on instantly changes into some sort of pink shade. Take this color for instance-it is Revlon's creme lipstick in Black Cherry. It looks very dark in the tube, almost black-but on my lips it becomes a saturated shade of magenta! It just takes a bit of experimentation to find what works for you. When I first started buying lipsticks I wanted a vintage red shade, so I bought a few that looked very typical bright red. When I put them on, however they would look almost hot pink! Not exactly what I wanted...I'm still searching for that nice vintage red in a lipstick that won't make me broke. Had any luck ladies? Please share!

Another bit of house news too-one of my good friends is a realtor and I mentioned to her tonight that Sean and I were looking at houses. She offered to be our realtor for us and help us find our house! We're on kind of a short timetable so we will need all the help we can get. I am so grateful for her willingness to jump in and help us. What a blessing!

God Bless and happy Wednesday friends!

Hmm, your lips absorb the color! I don't know if you've ever tried Maybelline at all--their colors are usually pretty true to the tube. I wish you luck on finding a pretty shade of red (and a new home!).

My, my. This outfit is so very you indeed! I just love that dress... The color of it is so perfect. There's definitely not enough lavender in this world. :) And your belt brings out the pretty green in your eyes, Katie! <3

Have I seen and commented on your delightful kitty cat bag before? If not, I love it - it's crazy adorable.

And you look beautiful, I can see how this makes you feel good! It's great when that happens!

And hooray for getting started on finding a house! Good luck!

Wow Katie, this purple/lavender color is so beautiful on you. This outfit is just so refreshing and original. Love the lipstick! I have sort of switched from orange/corally hues to a bright pink/red. Mine is from Whole Foods (Gabriel Brand) in Matte Rose. I love it with most things because it really makes a nice pop against my pale skin and blue eyes. And of course, it's nice that it doesn't have chemicals and other harmful junk. This lip color looks lovely on you! So funny that all your lip colors turn pinkish, it suits you though!

You look like YOU indeed! :) And I love your hair! Soooo beautiful! Like a princess in a fairytale!
As far as reds go: I just found my favorite. Do you have Jordana products in drugstores near you? Their red lip liner is perfection on my lips!

Exciting you found someone to help you with the house hunt.

I'm like that with lipstick too- never knowing what is right for my skin tone too. But this color really works for you and your hair is fantastic in these shots.

The Lavender dress is just lovely! And that adorably fun kitty bag is terrific. The new lipstick looks great on you, I have recently been oving the Clinique chubby sticks (both the regular and intense ones)! As for red, I have a clinique palette that has quit a nice vintage red in it, I'll have to find the name!

Hope you're having a wonderful day!

Oooh, I must admit, I am quite jealous over how well you can rock the bold lipsticks Katie! Haha, I've tried a couple shades in the past, but my thin lips just can't pull it off. I'd still love to give red lips a shot though...if you hit on somthing, you should share the brand ;)

Oh Katie you never fail to impress with your vintage ensembles! Seriously, I always go to my closet and pull out pieces and color combinations that I see here :-) I love the bag - it really pulls together the whole look. And I will fully admit, that I am scared to death of lipstick. I finally branched out and bought some stain as opposed to my normal gloss...hehe, we shall see :-) The berry color looks stunning on you!
