Outfit: Black Dress, Jean Jacket
Oh, hello! How very nice of you to stop in :) Just popping in to say happy Wednesday to you with a little outfit I wore to run errands in the other day. The black dress and jean jacket are so very basic, but I wanted to wear some color on my feet! I got these colorful high-tops at a rummage sale for 75cents and they are just so fun. They didn't come with laces, so I added some red ones when I got the chance and I really like how colorful they look now.
On my run this morning I passed a couple of girls selling kool-aid and brownies. I can never resist buying from kids at a 'lemonade' stand. These girls were probably 11 or 12 and it just brought back so many memories of my sisters and I when we were kids! They were holding up big signs and singing and yelling to get people's attention. Unfortunately I didn't see anyone else around...I hope business picks up for them this afternoon :) Anyway, it was like I was running my own little marathon and these girls were positioned at the end of my run right when I needed them the most. I had to double back home to get some change and they were so excited to have a customer-how fun is summer?!
God Bless!

Tuesday Hair Tutorial: Victory Roll/s
Well, hello there Beauts! It's been forever since I posted my last hair tutorial, but I worked up another, finally. I'm going to show you how I achieve a look which I wear frequently. So frequently the hairstyle probably deserves it's own remix post :) It is so simple and easy to do that I find myself falling back on it in a pinch and it always comes out a bit different. I have very long hair, but I'm sure this would work with shorter hair as well, it just might look a bit different.
Start with your hair parted on the side. I have done this style with both curly and straight hair. If your hair is curly it will just be more voluminous!
You will need hairspray and bobby pins, that is all!
With your hair parted on the side, separate the front section of your hair, this is the first piece that you will be working with.
If needed, spray your hair with hairspray or rat it a bit if you hair is very thin. I usually sleep with my hair up to give it volume otherwise it is limp as anything.
Starting at the bottom of your strand, begin rolling the hair up towards your scalp, as if you are rolling a curler or curling iron. I usually roll upward because it's a bit easier for me, but rolling downward gives it a very lovely look as well. I just find it to be more difficult. Try both and see which you like better!
You will have to use your fingers to keep the roll nice and tight by pushing wayward strands back towards the middle. This will keep the roll from looking messy as well as help the roll to stay secure while pinning.
*Edit: I do not use a curler or netting when rolling my hair. If it is acting particularly thin that day I will rat it a bit to give it volume. However if it is easier for you or ratting/hair spray doesn't work feel free to go to your beauty supply store and get some small foam rollers or hairnets in your hair color to supplement for volume.
I know this way won't work for all, and I've seen many other victory roll tutorials out there. This is just what works easiest for me :) !
Continue rolling until you reach your scalp and position the roll where you'd like it.
Begin pinning using your bobby pins. I start at the back of the roll grabbing some of your other hair and then securing it all the way through the roll. Then put a pin in the front as well. I usually put about 3-4 pins in the back and 3 in the front until it feels secure.
Next, I take the right section of my hair and pull it back into a faux victory roll/poof by bringing the section of hair upward and twisting slightly. Do this with both sides and pin securely at the back.
You can roll these sections of hair the same way you did the first, I just find it to be more difficult and tedious, so I rarely do that. It creates a completely different and amazing look though!
Pin down any wayward strands and secure the whole look with hairspray! Now you have a fun look to wear out for any occasion.
Let me know if you have any questions and be sure to share pictures if you try this one!
God Bless,
KJA

Outfit: Button Down and Loafers+ Etsy Shop Update!
Hey, Cats! Did you have a good weekend? I'm still trying to get into some sort of a schedule now that school is out. I can't let myself sit on my tuchas all day long with no motivation this week! I keep feeling guilty that Sean has to get up and go to work every morning while I don't...I suppose that will push me to get some work done on other projects while I can this summer.
I also got some more frames from Firmoo! I have wanted a pair of cat-eye frames for ages and I am really in love with these. Up close they have a wooden look to them and they just fit my personality so well. I was incredibly happy to find them! I wore them with a simple button down and loafers to go see a movie. I always wear glasses to go see a movie because my eyes get so dry from lack of blinking-anyone else have that problem?
My projects this week include updating my Etsy Shop, working in my garden, and trying to figure out what to do with my life. What about you darlings?
God Bless,
KJA

Devotional: Combating Lies 13
Good morning all! It's time again for a Sunday Devotional. My series right now
is looking at different lies that we may believe about ourselves, and
how to combat those lies using scripture. Here are number one, number two, number three , number four, number five, number 6, number 7, and number 8, number 9 , number 10 and number 11 and number 12 if you are interested!
The thirteenth lie is this: I am in bondage.
The truth is: I am free in Christ.
Key Scriptures:
Psalm 32:7-For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.
2 Corinthians 3:17-For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
John 8:36 - So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
We live in a country that we like to think is free. We can do what we want (unless it infringes on the rights of others), say what we want (unless it hurts others' feelings), wear what we want (unless it offends someone), but what exactly is freedom? To know freedom, we must know Christ. Many people who aren't Christians think that to be a Christian is to be in bondage. They think it is some life full of imposed rules that we live by. This is so inaccurate! To know the love of Christ is to be incredibly free. These verses give me assurance of that. I don't walk around worrying where I am going to go when I die, I know that I will be with Jesus.
Sometimes it seems that this country is moving in a scary direction, with our rights and 'freedoms' being taken into question. However, no matter what the world tells me I need to do or say, I know that I have freedom in Christ- not only in this life but in eternity as well. That is all I need to focus on, because in the end that is what will matter.
Christ doesn't want to restrict you, he wants to show you what true freedom feels like.
God Bless,
KJA

Friday Remix: Polka Dot Shorts
Happy Friday everyone! It's finally shorts weather, as made clear to me today while running errands. It seems that when May hits one simply cannot wear long pants anymore or they will melt into a puddle. One is required to wear shorts or skirts! That is where this fun, little polka dot pair come into play. I have trouble finding shorts I like because they are either too short or too tight. This blue pair is flowy and comfy and I'm sure I'll get a lot of wear out of them this summer!
God Bless!

Outfit: Jean Jacket
Hullo dear ones! It seems as soon as the warm weather hits, I'm living in my jean jackets. I've been wearing them with everything from jeans, to shorts, to dresses. Last year at this time I didn't have a denim jacket that I liked-just one cheap walmart one I got in middle school that was ill-fitting. I made it my goal to find a second hand one and over the past year I've scrounged up three of various shapes and sizes at rummage sales! This particular one I fell in love with because, A) It is Wrangler, and B) It has angled pockets! That is a unique detail I haven't seen on a denim jacket. Plus used denim is always better because it is broken in and wonderful.
I've also got to stop wearing this kitty bag with every single outfit. But it holds everything I need like all those snacks I've been sneaking into the movie theatre! Shhhhhh.....
Happy Thursday friends!
God Bless,
KJA
