Here is what I wore to school/work today. I know that it's super casual and really isn't 'professional' which is how they want us residency students to dress. However, they put the kabash on wearing jeans to class, so I'm getting away with it by wearing leggings! They aren't jeans or sweatpants right? I just need to be comfy to learn! Is that so wrong?
I was supposed to hang out with both of my wonderful sisters tomorrow, but my eldest sister and her family came down with the flu...:( I'm super sad and I'm praying they get better ASAP!!! Nevertheless my other sister is still coming to hang out with me at my place and I'm so excited! We just miss sister time with all three of us girls.
I'm loving the weather right now. The air has that crisp, cool feel that is signature fall. I wanna just spend time outside. Even the smell of the air (minus the cigarette smoke from our neighbors once in a while) makes me want to go apple picking or something. Sean and I will definitely have to make our way to the local orchard this year, as I have never been! Can you believe that? What kind of a fall loving person am I to have never been to an apple orchard? Really, now.

My sister is on her way here now, and we made her a late birthday cake! It is dark chocolate with cream cheese frosting. I added the almonds just to look pretty! Happy (late) Birthday Jen! :):) Love you oh so much :D

It looks like a rather blustery day, today
Hum dum dum ditty dum
Hum dum dum
Oh the wind is lashing lustily
And the trees are thrashing thrustily
And the leaves are rustling gustily
So it's rather safe to say
That it seems that it may turn out to be
It feels that it will undoubtedly
It looks like a rather blustery day, today
It sounds that it may turn out to be
Feels that it will undoubtedly
Looks like a rather blustery day today
Oh how I love Winnie the Pooh :)
All I could see from the window in my classroom today were trees bending and violently swaying in the wind. It is definitely blustery out there! I've decided that I need to start bringing a pillow with me to class because my butt CANNOT handle sitting in the same metal chair for 8 hours! Do you think that would look funny ;)? haha.
When my sisters and I would go visit my grandparents when we were little (a four hour drive seemed so long back then!) we would bring our pillows and sit on them for the drive! I don't know why we loved to do that, but there have been a few times even now that I've gotten the urge to sit on my pillow! I still hold onto a lot of my little kid habits I guess!
So, math is crazy, right? You all agree with me on this? I thought so. I had math class today-the class is more on how to TEACH math than actually having to do math. We had a two hour discussion on the work of twelve sixth graders and where they should be placed (low, middle, high) according to their work on a story problem. It was riveting let me tell you! I couldn't even solve the story problem...so I would guess that according to the sixth grade level I would be classified as low...bahaha.
Hope you all had a wonderful Thursday! I am so looking forward to the weekend and cannot wait to hang out with my amazing sisters this weekend! It's pretty much my favorite...:)
God Bless!

Field Trip!
We took our first grade kiddos on a field trip to the fire station today. It was a walk of a little over 6 large blocks from the school. And it was HOT! Those little ones were so whiny and unhappy all the way there and all the way back. Comments included, "I'm sooo thirsty!" "My feet hurt!" "I'm going to DIEEEEEE" and "I feel like I'm gonna throw up!" So, yes, it was quite the adventure :)
The time actually at the fire station was good though. The kids got a walk through of the truck and all of it's equipment. When one of the fireman pulled out this long spear like object and asked the students what they think it is used for, one of my little ones said "It's used to kill zombies!!" Bahahaha...this kid is great.
They also had the students watch a fire safety video from, oh I don't know, 1985? It was pretty much the worst and best thing I've ever seen. One of the songs, 'fall and crawl' was sung by Little Ritchie, and they had this scantily clad gymnast lady from the 80's sing a song called 'stop drop and roll' where she proceeded to roll all around the floor in her leotard....Comments from the boys included "Ewww!" and "Why is she wearing that!"
Oh the 80's
Oh, why doesn't the fire station pay 20 bucks for a new video?
Oh dear.
So this is what I got to wear to school today! Since it was a field trip we could wear jeans. This is pretty much the comfiest outfit ever. I can't even tell you how much better a day I had just because I felt comfortable! Who ever invented dress clothes anyway?? I mean, I like to wear them...but I just don't like to teach in them...I'm kind of backwards on the whole dress code of life. I prefer to wear my comfy clothes to work in, and I like to save my dress clothes for play! Reverting back to old times I suppose :)
So..that was my day :) Another 8 hours of class awaits me for tomorrow-have a lovely evening!
God Bless,

Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

Some couch, some Ned's and some cookie dough...
Today I was at school for 10 hours. It was kind of a brutal day, mostly because I am finding out more and more what a horrible disciplinarian I am. I'd rather just love the kids and give them hugs and be the nice teacher that makes everyone happy...humph. I am trying my best to remember that I'm not being mean by enforcing rules and limitations, I am just helping them to work out all of their bad behaviors now before they become serious issues in the future, but it's not easy!
I absolutely did not wear this to work today, although I wish I could. I just don't think shorts are professional teacher attire. Of course, I've seen plenty a poorly dressed teacher in my day, so I probably don't have to worry about my professionalism. I just think these shorts are the comfiest things ever, so I threw them on after work. I got them at Kohl's with the free money they keep sending me...I don't know why they do this, but it makes me very happy. Kohl's is my new favorite (but Target will always be number one in my heart!)
Sean was being a true photographer and telling me to 'work it'. I guess this was the result...Me making crazy.weird faces! Bahaha..
Tomorrow the class ventures on our very first field trip-a trip to the fire station, which is a six block trek from the school. It may not sound like much, but for those little darlings it might be quite exhausting. I will definitely be sporting tennis shoes to school tomorrow! I'm excited to see a field trip in action for the first time this year and the students are so pumped for it! I always loved field trips when I was their age too :) Hey, I STILL love field trips!
Sean and I have been going out and playing tennis every night for the past several nights. Today though, since we're both exhausted I think we're going to veg on the couch, turn on some Ned's Declassified, and eat cookie dough...ya that sounds good!
God Bless!

A Little Chill
What glorious weather we're having. I love this temperature, where there is a little chill in the air, but it's not cold! It makes it such a lovely day to be outside, bumming at garage sales, taking walks, playing tennis (of course, I'm stuck inside doing homework...) but it all sounds nice doesn't it? haha.
I stole this dress from my sister a while ago. She wore it when she was pretty young, and I decided that since she isn't wearing it anymore, that I'm not too old for her hand me downs. I love the little lace and button closure at the neck, the pretty flowers, and the pearlescent buttons. Squee!
I hope you're all having a happy Sunday :) Are you all getting into the fall spirit yet? Baking pies, taking walks, roasting some yummy squash? Ooo I'm so excited my favorite season is here!
Alright all, back to reading the 60 pages out of my math book...here I go...
God Bless!

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
