Outfit: Novelty Print Dress

I am heading to my grandparent's for the week, so I will be off the grid again until next Tuesday. I thought about scheduling posts ahead of time, but I just didn't have time this week and I'm sure the internet will be back when I come home :) I am taking a friend with me this time as Sean couldn't get off work and I am very excited! There will hopefully be lots of gardening, nighttime walks, and exploring (and sewing hopefully!!).

This bag is one of my favorite finds with it's cherry-leather color and beautiful design on the front. I am selling it in my shop so you can have this little shoulder bag for yourself if you so fancy! You can find it here :)

God Bless and have a wonderful week!

12 Inches of Hair Donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths

So, anyone who has me on facebook or instagram yesterday already knows this but, I donated my hair yesterday finally! I had been waffling on it for months and decided that with school/work starting up again soon it only makes sense to have it quite a bit shorter as I wear it up everyday while working anyhow. I can't lie, I already miss my long tresses a bit, but there are so many fun things I can try with my hair now! My first order of business is going to be trying out curlers to see if I can get those nice 40's waves I've been wanting :). I got it cut straight across with just a tiny little bit of face framing at the bottom (barely though haha). I'm not a bangs girl and even though I am extremely curious to see how I'd look with them I know I would regret that one for sure.

The ponytails were about 12 inches of hair, and I sent it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which you can read more about here! I sent it to Locks of Love when I donated in 8th grade, but three years ago and this time around I decided to do Pantene's program.  8 inches is the minimum so even if you don't have hair as long as I did you can still donate. I'm sure in about three more years we will go through this song and dance yet again and I'm very thankful I have the ability to grow my hair and donate it to those who need it more than I do!

It looks super blunt in these photos right after the cut, but it looks better now that it has sat for a day :)

I still have a few posts that have pictures of my long hair, so I will try and get those out of the way and start trying out some new vintage styles with this 'do!

God Bless,
KJA

And isn’t long hair a woman’s pride and joy? For it has been given to her as a covering.

Outfit: Vintage Photoshoot Pt. 1

So, a few weeks ago I had some special young friends of mine stay with me. I decided that I wanted to dress them up and have a vintage photoshoot. together. I will post pictures of them later this week, but here is what I wore for the occasion! This red and black dress is one of the most unique I have found, with an interesting tie at the neck, one pocket on the right side, and such a pretty fabric. I wish this one were a bit longer though, and I'm thinking of taking out the existing hem to see if it was hemmed twice by chance. I got this dress along with about six or seven others that were all hemmed very short so I assume whoever owned them must have been quite short as well and needed several hem-ings to make them the right length.

Happy Monday, friends! I have quite the busy day planned for myself and so I'd better get to it! :)

God Bless,
KJA

Devotional: James 2

I have a confession to make. Sometimes I have no idea what parts of the Bible I'm supposed to be reading. I just pick it up and flip to somewhere in the new testament and read until I feel as though I understand the passage. Lately, I've been flipping to James.

Guys and gals, James is where it's at.

I'm not sure why I felt connected to this particular passage. Perhaps it was because I've seen it too many times in ways that are less obvious than this piece of scripture speaks. Perhaps it is because we've been thinking a lot lately about what church we should be attending, paying special attention to how the politics of the church body are handled. Whatever the reason I took this group of verses to heart and decided to just share the first half of James 2 with you this morning.

James 2:1-13
My dear brothers and sisters how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?
For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well, doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?
Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? But you dishonor the poor! Isn’t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court? Aren’t they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name you bear?
Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.
10 For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws. 11 For the same God who said, “You must not commit adultery,” also said, “You must not murder.” So if you murder someone but do not commit adultery, you have still broken the law.
12 So whatever you say or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law that sets you free. 13 There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

For some reason I feel like things haven't changed much since James wrote this letter. It is a good reminder that people are people, no matter what they've been through or what their status is according to men. God loves each the same and wants a body of believers, not a body of those trying to glorify themselves.

Remix: Grandma's Blue Blouse

An item I have loved time and time again in my closet is this vintage blue blouse of my grandmother's. Whenever I find a vintage collared blouse at a thrift store I buy it, regardless of its size. They are just so perfect to throw under dresses and cardigans, or just be worn by themselves! But this blue beauty grandma made takes the cake. It has a dainty little collar, pleating down the front, and little white buttons. I love it. I want to learn to make one so I can have one in every color and print imaginable (I just said that about my last dress, too. Sheesh :) ).

God Bless!

Outfit: Picnic Skirt

Hi Dolls! Hope you're having a wondrous week. I am currently off again visiting family (gosh, summers are wonderful that way), so I'll leave you with an outfit I wore to church a couple of Sundays ago. This skirt and blouse seemed made for one another when I spied them together in my closet, they both have such wonderful peachy hues. This bag is a delightful Dooney and Bourke that is for sale in my shop! I love the size and shape of it, it's one of my favorite items!

Happy Wednesday!
God Bless,
KJA

Hair Turtorial: Pompadour Gibson Roll

Good day to you! I completed another hair tutorial for you this week, this time a pompadour/gibson roll style which is one of the most fun to wear (ok, I say that about all of them don't I?). Anyway I hope you enjoy and that this tutorial is somewhat helpful for you!

Hopefully it should come out something like this!
