Outfit: 1938

There is now a story to go with this outfit.
Sean and I went grocery shopping the other day and a woman stopped me to tell me that I reminded her of photos of her mother from 1938. I could have grabbed that woman and kissed her! 1938 is like the perfect decade, right where I want to be :)

It was incredibly windy and sunny whist taking these photos, so my hair is absolutely everywhere-however I did try pincurling it for the first time! My mom used to do it for me when I was a kid, but I thought I'd take a stab at it myself once. I did larger chunks of hair and it was actually quite difficult because my hair is so fine it just wanted to fall out of the pincurl, but once I got the hang of it it worked out pretty swell. I liked the result better than curlers-the curls were nice and loose and much easier to work with!

God Bless!

Those are my very favourite kinds of comments to receive. When someone both says I remind them of a beloved relative, but peg a decade down, too. I'm not sure if I've gotten an exact year yet though. How touchingly awesome that you did.

This is such a great chilly weather look and I completely agree with that kind stranger, it does channel the late 30s big time.

What a wonderful outfit, I just love your hat and coat. You just look so cute! What a lovely comment to get from that lady, comments like that really just make my whole week. Knowing that how you dress reminds someone of someone they love in another time is just a lovely thing.

You look so jaunty in this outfit! And what a fun compliment to be given.

Have you ever tried rag curling? My hair is nearly as long as yours and I find it is the best way to get that Veronica Lake wave! I use them on slightly damp hair coated in Motions foaming wrap lotion - they stay all day and it's quicker than pin curls.

That skirt is so so fun! You definitely do look very 1938!

Pincurling is how my mom always curled my hair when I was in high school too - it is really difficult because my hair so thick, so I have to do lots of little sections, so it takes a LONG time. But, I love how it looks!
