Black and Blue

Black and blue will never cease to be one of my favorite combinations. Whenever I'm at a loss as to what to pair with a blue dress I always seem to fall back on black accessories-it's so easy peasy when my creativity is lacking. Plus I am notorious for my ridiculous propensity to bruising at the slightest bump, so why not pair black and blue together in my clothing as well as my knees? Works for me!

Looking through these photos I saw a bit of Bonnie and Clyde. I guess whenever I wear a beret I feel a bit like the bank robbing vixen. Next time I'll have to throw a scarf around my neck and pull Sean into a few photos to make it authentic, haha.

I actually received this dress from a coworker of Sean's for my birthday a few weeks ago! The coworker's wife knows my love of vintage and  she found me this dress (along with 2 pairs of fun gloves!) at a vintage shop.  I was so thrilled when I saw the sky blue color and all of the fun detailing. The pleats along the top and bottom of the dress, the lovely bow, and the buttons on the wrist make this piece special instead of just being a plain blue frock. Plus, midi length dresses are my very favorite. For me that length is more versatile and also more modest. I can't thank her enough for such a lovely and thoughtful gift! It's one I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more of in the future :)
This beret is also a gift! I have a wonderful church family back in my hometown and one of the ladies there gave me two berets because she knew how much I adored hats. Wasn't that just the sweetest thing? I'm so blessed with thoughtful people in my life who do simple things like that to make me smile :)

Well, any plans for your Saturday friends? I'm not sure what ours are. Probably a late lunch, looking at more houses online, and some cleaning (Saturday is usually our cleaning day because we're so lazy about it during the week).
Have a loverly day!
God Bless,
KJA

  3. Such a nice gift to receive! You styled it up perfectly with some curls and houndstooth coat too :)
Also, thanks for the encouragement on my last post...its tough trying to figure out what to do. I've been praying over it ceaselessly since last year though. Since deciding to change my major to a technical degree (I'm planning on going into dental assistant work) I've felt more peace though. I think for now, this is what I should do. Who knows what God's plans are for me in the future though!

  6. I tend to avoid black and blue because it reminds me of my school colors in high school (hahaha, not that it was a bad school or anything, I loved it!), but you make it look way cool here. I especially love that dress, wow! The little buttons on the sleeves are perfect and that color is very pretty. :D
