Live in Lace

This was one of those outfits that I could live in forever. If I had to pick just one ensemble to wear for the rest of my life, this may just be it (although we all know as obsessed as I am with clothing that could NEVER happen...).  These next few weeks are going to show a serious infusion of clothing that does not belong to me. I got a ton of packages from the gals from Flock Together and have been having so much fun styling up their items! This mustard collared blouse I am wearing underneath my dress is from Elana, who blogs over at Room 334. She has some of the cutest clothes around and her blog is so full of smiles and positive energy! I was super excited to style this piece up. The collar was obviously the focal point of the blouse and so I wanted to layer it under a dress so that it would really pop.
I found this dress on the Kohl's clearance rack a while ago. It is the most perfect dress I have purchased (I'm excluding my vintage dresses, of course). The top is lace and the skirt is a flowy chiffon fabric. It is has a fully opaque lining and the slip is actually modest! Most dresses I find with a built in slip may have a long overlay, but very short/low cut lining. This one I can actually work with! I also love the tank top which makes it super versatile for layering. I think I found a winner :)
The sweater and bag are my grandmother's. I've had to do a little fixing on the cardigan as it had a few holes in it, but it is the warmest that I own! The color is so fun also and I love that it is double breasted! Definitely a special detail.

The earrings are from Avon. I found them in my mother's jewelry box a few years ago and asked if I could have them! The little birdies are so sweet. The hairclip is a special vintage find from long ago. One of my first purchases! I love the quality and color of it. It is one of my favorite treasures.

I changed into flats to run a few errands with the husband. It was such a nice day on Saturday that I could go out without a coat or tights! IN NOVEMBER! South Dakota for the win.

Thanks to my darling Sean for the photos!

I hope you all have a simply lovely start to your week. I am basking in the wonderful-ness that is November in our school district. The next several weeks are going to be shortened due to compensation days for teachers and then, of course, Thanksgiving coming up! After that I start my new job :) Looking forward to November!
God Bless,
KJA

  1. Oh gosh, this is such a colorful and upbeat outfit... I can see why if you had to live in one outfit for the rest of your life why this would be it. It's so fun! And I love your hair here and the little butterfly hair clip you have--such a cute touch!

  2. New favorite outfit of yours! That is a delightful dress, the pop of yellow on the collar is lovely, the lace is lovely and it's the perfect shade of blue. And then you throw that amazing pink cardigan on top of it and it notches it up even further!

  3. So many things!

First off, love the new blog look and header. Very clean-cut feeling.

Second, your description of Elana is so pitch perfect!

Third, um, now I'll have to go request to borrow this shirt because it looks so awesome. Love how you did something really different with it, but how it is still the focus point of the outfit. Fourth, the buttons on the cardi are adorable.

  4. I love this outfit so much! Especially the blue and the gold together - it is perfect (and my school colors, so I'm liking that too.)

I'm so jealous of your South Dakota weather: a.) because it is SO cold here. b.) I love South Dakota! I was there for two weeks in high school and just loved it so much. I want to make it back so badly!

  8. So I've been an awful blogger and am now scrolling through your blog to catch up on posts I missed. Now I definitely regret being so behind because I missed how amazing you styled this top! It seriously looks fantastic under this dress, you have the best eye. I wish I had two of these and could just give one to you. And thank you so much for the sweet words about me!
