I am currently snuggled on the couch watching the presidential debate and munching on warm butternut squash muffins. I used this recipe but used the squash instead of pumpkin! The apartment smells heavenly right now. I love the changing of vegetables with the changing of the seasons-bring on the pumpkin bread, roasted squash, and the smells of fragrant spices like cloves and nutmeg...mmm :)
I bought these pants, wore them once, and then ended up taking them back. I just wasn't sure I could get enough wear out of them in my closet...I felt kind of guilty about taking them back after wearing them, but they stretched out funny and just seemed like they weren't going to hold up very well as the quality was somewhat in question for me. This is what a steady thrifting hobby has done for me- I've scoured store after store looking for high quality items - many times for a lot cheaper prices. No matter how cute clothes from target may be, they never last as long as I like them to.
Also, the incredibly fun and lovely Beth tagged me in a Blog Award! It is called the Sunshine Award and is given to those bloggers who bring joy-I'm so flattered she chose to tag me as one of the recipients! Beth is one of my very favorite bloggers. She is beautiful and always has cute and quirky stories to tell about her life :) Thanks Beth!
As with these blog awards, I had a set of questions to answer. I had so much fun with her unique set of questions.
1. You are stranded on a deserted
island with only five songs on your iPod - what five songs are you going to
listen to on repeat?
First of all, I LOVE this question.
I adore music of all kinds and listen to it incessantly. I am obsessed with
anything Owl City and NEEDTOBREATHE right now. I could probably just pick 5 songs
from either of those two bands and be happy for all of my days. But that isn't
very interesting. Here are my picks:
1.On the Wing by Owl City
2. Washed by the Water by
NEEDTOBREATHE
3. Garden by NEEDTOBREATHE
4. The Lining is Silver by Relient K
5. Dementia by Owl City
2. Have you heard of that show
"The Best Thing I Ever Ate?" What would you say if you were on
that show?
This is really random-and it
probably isn't the best thing I've ever eaten EVER. But I can't remember back
very far and this one is fresh in my memory. The other night We went out to
pizza ranch with some friends and they had PUMPKIN CACTUS BREAD PEOPLE. This
isn't a joke. It was, for some reason or another, the most delicious thing I
can remember eating. Maybe I'm just in the fall mood, but I could have eaten a
whole pizza pan of that stuff. It was that good.
3. Where is your favorite place to
shop for shoes?
Ideally I would say the thrift
store. The shoes are cheap and it is magical when I can find a vintage pair to
fit my feet. If I were to pick an actual store though I would have to say I
discovered Kohl's within the past year. They have a range of different styles
and their clearance prices are ridiculously cheap!
4. Is there a fictional character
(say on television) whose style you admire?
This is a tough question. Any
actress from any 1940's movie is my style icon. I love watching old movies just
for the style inspiration. Anything from hair to makeup to shoes is what I love
to admire!
5. Would you rather be a pirate or a
ninja?
Most definitely a ninja. I am not
stealthy at all so I think I could use a few lessons in that area! Plus ninjas
are just awesome.
6. Have you jumped on board with the
Kindle/Nook craze or do you still like a book in your hands? Or maybe you
do both?
I do not own one of these devices. I
don't like technology in general (even though it is my husband's profession)
and prefer to stay away from any type of expensive devices. Mostly because I am
cheap. I also just like the feel of snuggling up with a book on the couch-I
like the smell and that sort of thing.
7. What is your favorite magazine,
if you have one?
I don't read a lot of magazines. I
do like to read fashion magazines on occasion simply for the inspiration, but I
still haven't found one I really love. Most of them are filled with smut and
advertisements, which I don't feel like paying money for. Once in a while I
like to read Vogue though!
8. Do you wear sunscreen every day
like they recommend we all should?
In the summer I definitely do. I am
very pale so I need to wear a lot of sunscreen! I get very freckled :) In the winter I don't wear any extra, but my
face lotion and foundation has SPF 15, so that seems to work just fine.
9. What is the worst movie you've
ever seen?
Oh gosh, I hope I don't step on some
nostalgic toes here, but I have to say there are a couple of classic movies
which my husband has made me watch that I was really not fond of. These include
Ghostbusters, Gremlins, and Little Monsters. Maybe it's just that he grew up
watching them as a little boy, but I really don't see what he sees in those
movies! They are full of all KINDS of craziness!
10. Do you have a favorite type of
cookie? What is it? Will you bake me some?
Haha! This question made me laugh :D I really like any type
of oatmeal cookies. I make a lot of oatmeal no bake cookies that are full of
chocolate and peanut butter and pure awesome extract. I would love to make you
some! Are you coming to visit? :)
Hope you're having a great week Lovelies! We're having fantastic weather here, so I'm hoping it keeps up through this week :)
God Bless!

LOVE those floral jeans! I've been having such an obsession with printed pants recently! The collar necklace is also great! Super sweet look! :)

Those floral jeans are just perfect! I love the darker, autumnal hues you paired with it too :)
ReplyDeleteTrendy Teal
Ooh, I was watching the debate last night in my brother's apartment with him! But alas, we did not have these delicious butternut squash muffins at our disposal as you did. They sound heavenly!
ReplyDeleteThose floral jeans are so unique. I adore all the pretty colors they have and how you brought out the cognac color with that top.
Butternut squash muffins!!! Oh please send that recipe over my way...those I must try :)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading through these and getting to learn more about you. I'm a fan of NEEDTOBREATHE too and holy moly does that pumpkin cactus bread sounds mouth-watering!
The pants are soooo cute on you but I know what you mean. Every so often I'll pick something up at Target, but you're right, it just doesn't hold up as long as many of the vintage pieces I thrift or find at the antique mall do. And Forever 21...forget about it, even worse!
Enjoy those muffins lovely lady! xo Marisa
Yay fun answers!! I love Owl City!! Pumpkin cactus bread?? That sounds amazing! And yes, those cookies sound fantastic, I'll come visit and have some!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh - I have those pants from Target, we could have been twins! I understand taking them back if they were bunching oddly on you! I think they still fit me ok, but I do agree the quality isn't the best, I don't know that I'll get them to last much past this season!
Oh my goodness - reading this post has made me SO hungry for fall food. Can't wait until Thanksgiving now when my college bootie can get home for all that deliciousness.
ReplyDeleteI love these pants - such a shame that you had to take them back, but I know what you mean about the "Thrift Shop Curse/Blessing" where you get so used to clothes that would probably survive WWIII. It certainly makes it hard to shop at "normal" stores.
It was great getting a peek into your life. :)

aw it's too bad those jeans didn't work out, they're sooo pretty and very fall-esque (yes i just made up a word, it sounds fancy though). i one time was trying on jeans in target and pulled them up by the belt loops and one ripped off! haha they're *definitely* not great quality. and this squash cupcake is coloring me intrigued...
ReplyDeleteI've thrifted things, never worn them and re-doated them. Thats the problem when you see something is a dollar or two and think "why not?"
ReplyDeleteJust think of it as a double donation.
Chic on the Cheap
It was so fun reading all about you! I'm craving some oatmeal cookies now. It's a shame these pants didn't work out, this kind of floral pant looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteLove the pants, they're so pretty. Sorry they didn't work out. Love the sweater and that necklace! Love Peter pan collars.
