Spring Trip to the Black Hills

Here are some pictures from this past weekend when I went to the Black Hills with my husband's family! They rented out a gorgeous cabin and we packed just about as much as we could into two days. We got to see a bit of the pretty scenery, eat at a fun little cafe, play some Settlers of Catan, and just relax a bit! I am so thankful for a little getaway with some beautiful weather after the bitterly cold winter we just experienced. It was magical! Here are just a few snaps and family photos from the weekend.

The top bedroom on the balcony had a a window that overlooked the rest of the cabin. It was pretty glorious and I joked to everyone that I was going to wake them up early in the morning by singing at the top of my lungs for my animal minions like a Disney Princess. They were slightly amused, and also slightly terrified that I was being serious. I never joke about singing though. Never.

I did up my hair in a fishtail braid and little roll. I pretty much wore a scarf all weekend because, you know. Washing hair is for people who have way too much time on their hands. :)

We decided to take a couple of group photos with the remote to my camera. For this last one I yelled out, "Funny faces!" Apparently Sean's family doesn't do funny faces because myself and Sean's twin sister were the only two who obliged. Oh well, maybe next time, haha. Until then, Brandy and I will have to look like goofs together!

That's all for today!
Have a glorious Tuesday :)

Outfit: Tones of Pink

Why hello  there! I took a bit of an internet vacation this past weekend while I was away with my husband's family in the Black Hills. I didn't even look at my phone or computer for two days! It was magical! I did take a few photos, though not as many as I would have liked, but I will have those ready to post for tomorrow :)
Until then you'll have to live with this very pink ensemble I wore for a date night a couple of weeks ago with the hubs. I wore my kitty hat with my kitty tights, I couldn't resist!
Well, I've been traveling all weekend so it's time to hit the hay for tonight, but I hope you have a splendid start to your week!

God Bless,

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Remix: Textured Coat

Hello darling chickadees!  Today I am on my way to the other side of the state for a little weekend with the in-laws. I have my last coat remix for you for the year with this fun, textured coat of my grandmother's! There are so many fun elements to this coat that I didn't expect. It has a lining which zips out to make it multi-seasonal, and I found money and a rain cap in the pockets (along with some tissues) that my grandmother left in the coat 40 years ago! The best thing about vintage sometimes are the hidden treasures :)

Have a fabulous weekend, you!

Inspiration: 1940's Yearbooks Part 1

Hello! For this week's inspiration I wanted to show a few photos I took last summer when I visited a museum with my sister. The museum had an entire section of vintage yearbooks from the turn of the century on up. I was giddy as a schoolgirl (har har) and snapped some photos of some of my favorite 1940's snapshots. I wish they were better quality (I had only my small camera with me at the time), but the hair! The hair is always the best part of old photos :)
 Enjoy!

Outfit: Pink and Flowers

I got my locks trimmed a couple of inches the other day, so whilst wearing my hair down and straight like this I got a bit inspired by the late 60's. This floral cowl neck top which belonged to some family member or another was just the ticket to feeling springy and fresh. I also opted for a more orange-y pink lipstick to fit the vibe of the era. With the warm weather back on its way (hopefully!) I feel a change in style coming on with more simplicity. It's so nice to be able to throw on an outfit and go without having to worry about coats/gloves/scarves/etc. (not that I don't adore all of those things :) ).
This was just before I got my hair cut, but it really didn't look any different afterword. I just got the split ends done away with and that always feels so nice! It had been around 8 months since my last cut and I'm seriously considering donating the whole lot of it this fall.

Have you been having a good week my little posies?
God Bless!
