Half Poodle Hair Tutorial

Good day everyone!
Today I have a hair tutorial for you. It's a 1940's  inspired up-do which I pinned on my pinterest boards a while back. This adorable singer/actress was Francis Langford who was a popular entertainer from the 1930's to the 1950's. I loved this carefree hairstyle with a mop of curls at the top of the head and cascading curls down the back. I didn't achieve as much volume as this curly beauty, as I was planning to wear a hat- but I was still pretty pleased with the results.

Here is what I used to achieve this look:

If you have naturally curly hair you are a lucky lady! For the straight haired beauties out there, you're going to need to curl your hair somehow. I like to use foam rollers that I sleep in at night. The one's I'm wearing are about 1-1 1/2 inches in diameter. Headscarf is optional, but it does help when you have to run your errands the next day :)

Try to let your curls dry as much as possible before removing the curlers or they may not hold their shape.

Hopefully hair looks something like this when finished.

Gather the front half of your hair like you're going to put it in a half ponytail. Take the curls and swirl them around the top of your head until the ends of the curls are sitting atop your forehead.

Begin pinning using bobby pins into the thickest part of the curl. Just pin like a madwoman until you feel like the curls are secure. Keep playing with them until the curls are sitting how you want.

Pull up the hair on the sides of your head to make it sleek, while adding more volume to the top of the hair. Pin it there.

Hopefully the style is looking good by this point. If you choose to have a more voluminous look, you can finger comb or brush out the rest of your curls.

I'm a sucker for the 'widows peak' look of the 40's. I pulled a couple of the curls down, pinned them together, and secured the curl with another bobby pin. I then sprayed the style with a good amount of hairspray to ensure that it wouldn't blow away in the windy weather we've been having!

This was a very fun style to wear, and you'll get to see how I wore it in tomorrow's outfit post!
I hope you try this one, you'll be the cutest gal in town.

God Bless!
