Retro Remnants

Why hello there! This past weekend was extremely fun (and busy!).  I helped a friend with her pop-up vintage sale. She has a few online shops including her women's shop Retro Remnants, which is full of amazing vintage pieces. A couple of times a year she brings her massive inventory out into the light and has a sale on all of her items! I helped her set up on Friday, and then got to hang out with her most of the day Saturday too, talking to many interesting people and steaming, selling, and taking pictures of all of her gorgeous gowns, shoes, coats, etc. It was a vintage-loving gal's dream really. She has a few stunning silk gowns from the 1930's and 40's that I had never seen before in her inventory. I about died. Someday I'll convince her to let me do a photoshoot with some of her items, how fun would that be!?
Anyway Sean and I helped her tear down on Sunday and this is what I wore to do that! A nice, comfy dress and my favorite black oxfords. The best part of being able to help her this weekend (other than getting to hang out with a great friend for three days straight)? I convinced her to let me buy her entire inventory of women's vintage hats, as she is trying to get out of selling them because they are too fragile and difficult to store properly. I want to begin selling hats on my Etsy Shop, so this was a perfect opportunity. I took inventory of all of the hats when I got home, and there are over 75 of them!! So I got a phenomenal deal. I also couldn't resist trying every single one of them on, and let me tell you there are a few I'm definitely keeping for my own collection :).
So all in all it was a fantastic time and I'm very thankful I got to be a part of it.

I hope you're having a fantastic start to your week! Mine will be busy, busy again, but no complaints here! I'm thankful for new opportunities to be busy and will try my best to take it in stride :)

God Bless!

  6. Oooh, I adore this dress and how you layered such a lovely purple blouse underneath. Its perfect :)
Also, good point on my last post. I wish the world wouldn't objectify people, especially women. It really makes me so upset and disheartened when I'm watching TV or go out to see a movie and I see a scene involving WAY more skin than necessary, especially for the female actresses. I did my paper on women's rights my Senior year of high school, and I read some really dark stuff from countries around the world concerning sex trafficking.
Anyway, to end my short novel...you look amazing and I loved reading your thoughtful comment!
