So there's a castle for sale in my town. A castle that is one of the last standing historical Queen Anne style pieces of architecture in our city. It is for sale for around 180 thousand because the inside needs a lot of work for it to be liveable. What an amazing a beautiful opportunity to possess a piece of history. The home, known as The Avery House, was built in 1889-the year SD became a state. It has stained glass windows, a gorgeous staircase, a turret, and some lovely fireplaces. I know this all from the photos I found on google of course. We didn't get to go into the house, but I'd love to see the inside of it someday (or own it, har har). I keep trying to convince Sean that we could fix it up using the reimbursement grants it offers to preserve it, but I don't think he'll let me have it unless we win the lottery (again, har har). Anyway, even if we cannot own it, I had to go take some photos near it because I think it is a stunning work of art, and there aren't too many houses like that left today. Enjoy!
I got this Louis Feraud coat for free at the Lowry Mall (that free thrift store in the middle of nowhere I visited!). It is wool and cashmere and I couldn't wait for a bit of cooler weather to pull it out. I think it fit the Victorian vibe of the house quite well, even if I am rocking quite the menswear look. The brogues are a pair of men's I thrifted a couple of years ago and I still think they're way more comfy than any women's oxfords I own.
After visiting the Avery House we found a museum a couple of blocks away that was in another Queen Anne style home designed by the same architect. It had a wall of buildings and homes that he designed and it was breathtaking to see all of the workings of this one man from that time period. After snapping a couple of shots, they told me I wasn't allowed to take pictures...oops. I hate that! But I got three important ones, so it's all good.

Now all that's left to do is win the lottery! Should be easy enough, right?
