I love playing with colors. I like to mix saturated with pastel, and I love to put together color combinations that border on clashing. When I received this minty green dress from Hannah of The Braided Bandit, I knew I wanted to spice it up with some punchy footwear and a dark lip for some contrast.
I'm really thankful for this opportunity to swap clothing with some of my fellow bloggers. For instance, this dress is one from Shabby Apple that I had seen and swooned over months ago. Obviously, the dress was way out of my price range, but I still admired it from afar. When Hannah offered up the dress to swap it was so fun to get the opportunity to style it! As it turns out, the fit wasn't right on me anyhow, so it was a nice way to try it without having to shell out extra money on something that didn't fit properly.
OKAY so I know that I promised hair tutorials a while ago, but I think my computer ate them, so hopefully by next week I'll have time to create a couple more tutorials, in case you're interested. I have a bit more time now that school is out for a while. I just have to get my lazy self motivated to do some things!
I'm never good at explaining my style to others. I'm not really sure how to describe what I like to wear, but looking at this ensemble I think I'd call it 'quirky vintage'. I love to add silhouettes from different decades with items in offbeat colors, like these oxfords.I like to mix mature and younger styles, like a sweater vest with a big hair bow. My outfits are like a collage of everything I love, except I wear my collage instead of gluing it onto paper and throwing it in a box to look at later.
I hope you're having a lovely week! The sun has been hiding from us here, but I'm not complaining about that. It can stay cool and dreary forever in my book :)
God Bless!

ReplyDeleteAnd now you have given me another style idea for the vintage polka dot dress I have that is similar to this one. Denim jacket! Great idea!
Love this dress. They have so nice clothes, but expensive :-/.
ReplyDeleteAll outfit is so sweet :)
I love the way you layered this look!! I would never have thought to pair the mint and brown together, but they look wonderful! And perfect with the denim jacket.

The mixing of masculine and feminine pieces is fun!

This is kindof freaky weird, but I styled it really similarly! I'm going to post it in a week or so on my blog, but I wore an almost identical vest!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds and all that!

Quirky vintage!! Ahhh, Katie, that is definitely the perfect description for your style. "A collage of everything." You love to wear pretty vintage pieces, but you always find the unique, fun-patterned ones opposed to the not-so-exciting ones. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis dress has the cutest print on it ever. And I love how you're wearing dark lipstick with it--such a nice contrast!! :)
You always inspire me with your style! I hope your move is going well! We're right in the middle of ours and living with boxes all around us for a few more days,

This combo is so adorable, I love the layering so much! Really like how you’ve put your whole outfit together!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,

Sometimes rainy weather is the best :) I also had this dress on my wishlist forever so it was definitely fun to try! I love how you styled it with the sweater vest over top, so cute! And those shoes are amazing! I almost bought some brightly colored oxfords the other day, they're just so fun! Can't wait to see your hair tutorials because your hair is always gorgeous!!

So lets talk about this outfit for a moment: vest layered over an adorable dress with a peter pan collar...pop of color in the form of magenta shoes...super cute head scarf. Wow, I'm in love:) Fabulous work!
ReplyDeleteI really like these colors together--the mint and the hot hot pink. I'm still dying over those fabulous shoes.
