I wore this the other day to spend some time with some of my favorite kiddos. I started out the day having lunch with three young ladies whom I used to babysit. They are now much too old for their own good and have me feeling ancient as they are becoming teenagers. I've known them since they were born so it is definitely a weird feeling to see them becoming so mature and grown up. Gawrsh.
After lunch we took a trek to my sister's place to see my nephews and celebrate the eldest's fourth birthday! It hardly seems possible that he is four years old already, but alas time flies by all to quickly.
I also wore some gifts that my sister has given me in the past. The earrings are from a few Christmases ago and the headband is just from this past Christmas. It has a darling little bow and a little sparkle, which is never a bad thing! I love it! The crocheted necklaces were handmade for me by the aforementioned young ladies whom I saw for lunch. They are so crafty!
I didn't know I could wear this dress so many ways when I bought it this summer. It really is great for layering or wearing on it's own as a sundress. I'll have to do a remix one of these days because it is just so perfect to wear with anything. It has a fun print, a comfy elastic waist and nice subtle colors, which is why I threw on my rusty tights to go with it. Both of my nephews were very confused when they saw my colored legs. They said, "What IS that?" It was cute, haha.
These boots are about ready to be tossed. I got them several years ago from walmart when boots like this were just becoming popular. I wasn't sure I liked them but figured for three dollars why not give them a shot? They ended up sitting in my closet for a couple of years before I got the guts to wear them out (this was when I was still style-shy apparently?) Now I've worn them so much they are falling apart. I finally found a replacement pair which should be arriving in the mail shortly! It took me forever to find another pair because I am so horribly cheap that I refused to pay the ridiculous prices of boots these days.
And for good measure, here is a photo of me with the darling boys. They're pretty much my favorite- all of you who have nieces and nephews know that they just have the ability to brighten your day at any moment with their smiles and hugs :) Love these tykes!
Also, my sister always has the best ideas for when she hosts get togethers such as this. She made brownie and cake pops that were so much fun to eat! We also had berries and homemade whipped cream, because we're fancy like that :)
God Bless!
KJA
And a little inspiration for your day, to be a blessing to others :)

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

I know that feeling when kids you used to babysit grow up - I have some cousins I used to babysit who are now in college and it's like, hey, weren't you just three the other day?
ReplyDeleteI love everything about today's outfit, your orange tights are awesome! And how sweet that they made you those necklaces - they look great!
I love your Headband and stockings's color!

Looove this outfit, especially that gorgeous cardigan! It's adorable that your nephews were confused by your tights, little kids are the funniest people ever, haha.

Awe, lunch with some people you used to babysit, that's so fun! I bet it is interesting seeing people grow up. That reminds me that I need to see some of my old high school teachers who I adored for lunch maybe one day now that I'm all grown up and in college, haha :)
ReplyDeleteThat dress has such a cute print! At first, I thought it was raindrops, which would be adorable, but upon closet inspection I see that it's just a really cute design. Raindrops or not, I like it lots!
This dress is so cute and versatile! I love this sweater too, such a great piece. Aw, your nephews are too cute!

Don't you just love how versatile dresses are? Haha, I love the print and style of yours. Plus, that fabulous cardigan! The details on it are perfect.
ReplyDeleteAw man, I kind of understand the whole feeling old part (and before you snort in derision, let me explain lol). My favorite little cousin John Art was 4 when I first met him during my Philippines visit in 2004. Now he's 12 and I can't just play peek-a-boo with him. He's almost a teenager! Its crazy. Aha
