Nautical

I absolutely love trying out different silhouettes of jeans. I mostly wear straight-leg or skinny jeans, but this sailor inspired pair jumped out at me when I visited the Lowry Mall last time I was there. For free I had to give them a try, right? They are so comfy, so high-waisted, and have such a fun, nautical feel to them. On this day, Sean had the day off of work, and I had a little time before I had to head to my job. We decided that since it was such a beautiful day we would make the rounds to the several rummage sales that had popped up in the area! It was such a beautiful day for it. I had a GREAT day of rummaging. At one sale I scored a huge bag of vintage clothing for 4 dollars. I also amped up my 1940's hat collection and found four hats for 17.50, which is a complete STEAL in my opinion. I can't wait to wear them!

Since I got my DSLR as a birthday present three years ago, I've wanted a nice, leather camera bag.  However, all of the namebrand bags at 300 dollars a pop were a little too rich for my blood. I finally discovered this Etsy shop based out of India and was blown away that I could get a leather camera satchel for so cheap. I am in love with it. It smells wonderful and is so much easier to carry around than the giant, bulky black  one I had that came with the camera. It was perfect to carry around at the rummage sales and I can't wait to start carrying my camera everywhere with me now. Huzzah! :)

Well, it has been an insanely busy weekend already. We hosted my sister in law's bridal shower at our house on Saturday and then I spent hours lesson planning that evening (still more to go). I feel like I've lost my planning touch over the summer and I need to get it back or this year is going to be torture!
Today Sean and I have church, errands to run, and (hopefully!) an apple festival to head to. Should be a fun time.
Have a blessed Sunday friends!

Bridge

At the moment I have two kitties snuggled up in the laundry basket and I'm dying of cuteness. It's amazing how much trouble and also love animals can give a person. Aside from pooping everywhere, the little guys are my favorite :)
My sister in law is/will be staying with us for a few weeks which has been fun! Last night she made us cupcakes, so..you know she can pretty much stay forever in my book. My sister is coming to stay with us tonight as well-I just love having a full house! I have a squash roasting in the oven right now, which makes the entire house smell like fall deliciousness...and love. So it should be a pretty great day.
If I had gotten some sleep the day would be even better! We still don't have a proper window in our bedroom, just plastic so when it thunderstorms you better believe we aren't able to sleep until the storm passes. The rain pelts the plastic like it's a metal sheet and thunder is twice as loud too. I cannot wait until we get that baby fixed!

Well, I'm off to get some dishes washed and run a few errands, pretty much the daily routine :)
Have a blessed day friends!

In the Navy

Oh hello there!
I just couldn't wait to wear some of my flea market gems that I found this weekend, so here is what I wore for church on Sunday! These shoes are probably my favorite find of all time. One of my fashion dreams since I began wearing vintage has been to find a pair of 1940's heels that fit my large sized feet. Vintage shoes tend to be so narrow that even if I found a pair the right length, they still wouldn't fit. However this vendor at the flea market must have had a few pairs of shoes from the same woman because I found several pairs that fit like a dream (I resigned myself to buying two, I have SOME willpower...not much). Whenever I find similar items in vintage shops I always love to think that they must have come from the same source. Like some elderly woman dropped off her entire beloved old wardrobe and then I find it. The only problem is that everything fits and I have to split up pieces of her collection like I'm adopting some siblings and leaving the rest to grow older in the orphanage. Which is why I usually go overboard when vintage shopping. I want to give every piece a good home where they will be well taken care of...does anyone else feel that way about vintage? I love it to pieces :)
I just imagine where these shoes might have taken the woman who wore them. Did she wear them to a dance where she had her first sway across the floor? Did she don them for church with a cozy little muff and stockings in the winter? Perhaps she had a night of card playing with some of her girlfriends and she pulled out these to wear. Oh if only inanimate objects could tell a story, I would sit and listen for hours.

This handbag was from the flea market as well. I absolutely adore anything that is two toned, and navy and tan are just beautiful colors together in my opinion. This little rust jacket was found at an antique shop in town called Lost Marbles. I love the pretty detailing on the skirt of the jacket and I am convinced that the 1940's had the most stunning jacket shapes and proportions. Each one was unique and that's what made them so special.

You can see a place on the front of the right shoe where the leather must have snapped and they sewed it back together. I love how well taken care of items were back then. If one of our cheaply made shoes snaps a strap most would just throw them in the trash. These were fixed beautifully and I didn't even notice the fact until after I got home and began wearing them.

Do any of you beauties have an item you've been dreaming of in your fashion lives?

God Bless!

Cozy Up

Did you all have a good weekend? The weather here was absolutely phenomenal for my liking, cloudy and chilly. It was just right for cozy sweaters, kitty cuddling, and the like. On Saturday I visited a flea market with two friends! I found so many great treasures. Even if there's only one vendor there with a rack of vintage it is worth it to me. I found a bunch of stuff from one guy and got a great deal. He had vintage bags and hats and shoes for 5 dollars and I may have been freaking out a bit, haha.
I also got to go see Despicable Me 2 for the second time with one of my sisters! We laughed aloud throughout the whole thing and it was such a fun time. I'm so glad when my sisters come through town because there is nothing better than getting to hang out with them!

What do you all have planned for you week ahead? It's just work for me, back to the grind.
Have a blessed day friends!
