Firmoo review

I am so very excited for this post! The wonderful company Firmoo contacted me to try out a pair of their gorgeous frames. I would love to tell you all about it if I may :)

Firmoo is an online glasses retailer who sells high quality and dare I say it- ridiculously low priced- eyewear. You can get prescription and non-prescription frames as well as sunglasses-for as low as 8 dollars! I know you're wondering if glasses that cost that little are good quality. Let me tell you I have been very impressed with the fit and quality of my frames. They are sturdy and comfortable. Not to mention they have a bevy of darling styles ranging from classic, to wayfarer, to nerdy chic. There is something for everyone! If you're not sure that you'll like the frames, their website has a virtual try-on system that allows you to upload your own photo to see how your favorite frames will look on you! Can't get much better than that. I knew I'd love my frames before I even ordered them!

The glasses came quickly in the mail and I was so pleased with how they were presented. The glasses were packaged with a sturdy hard case complete with a cleaning cloth and mini kit to fix any wayward screws (although I don't see that becoming a problem).

As with any glasses I've received from online retailers it takes a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to the frames, but I can see perfectly well in them. They even made me put away my contacts for a few days!
Lastly I just want to tell you that it is your LUCKY DAY! Firmoo has this amazing program where you can get your first pair of frames to keep absolutely free! You only need to pay the measly shipping fee. They have a rather small selection for free frames, but it is still a phenomenal deal.

In short, I was very delighted with the level of customer service, quality, and care that I received from the folks at Firmoo, and I would certainly purchase from there again! The frames I purchased can be found here. They are exactly what I was hoping for-a gorgeous vintage shape, beautiful brown and golden color combination, and just the right size. Please enjoy way too many photos of me wearing these stunners!

 God Bless all!

Just How old ARE You?

Those were the words my husband spoke to me as we were taking this set of photos. Apparently the poor chap has realized that he just may have married a 65 year old lady instead of one in her 20's. I couldn't resist this get up however! I had curlers in my hair and some baking to do so the headscarf was necessary really. Not to mention the glasses just completed the look entirely. Hot pink lipstick may have been pushing it, but let's just say I'm Malibu Grandma Barbie. I like that :)

Weekends are the most fantastic time. Friday night Sean and I stayed up until the most ridiculous hour watching old episodes of the Twilight Zone while he cleaned out a few drawers and I put my new curlers in my hair. It was an evening quite well spent. I got a new set of curlers that were wrapped in satin hoping that they would just be the best thing since cat eye glasses. Sadly I was not overly impressed with them. The clasps kept snapping off (clasps are the most important part of overnight curlers) and it was such a trial to get them put back together while your hands are behind your head. It was manageable though and I still might keep them because I need a set!

I also had the strange urge to do a bit of pie baking. Sean doesn't eat pie (seriously, I don't know what is wrong with him), so now I am stuck with this humongous thing all to myself. Anyone want to come over and share :) ?
I feel like I look rather like my grandmother in these photos. Every few nights she sets her hair in curlers and puts a scarf around them just like this. That is how I'm used to seeing her :). It's beautiful :). I never really thought I looked much like her, but I can see the resemblance in these photos! I think this might even be one of her scarves.

Hope your weekend was just as lovely! We even got the prettiest little flurries of snow here (even though it is spring, winter doesn't seem to have figured that out).
God Bless!

Non-Traditional

Sometimes I just have to take a vintage dress and make it as non-traditional as possible. Life is too short not to wear hot pink wedges with a butter yellow dress I say! Too. Short.
If you look closely, you can see my nice bashed up knee from a couple of weeks ago. It looks pretty good now compared to how it was! I'd love to say I have scars for doing cool things like rock climbing and mountain biking and such, but really all I did to earn this stripe was walk down a sidewalk. Siiiigh.  Such is life :)

The time change is like a blogger's best friend, I'll tell you. It's finally light out again after I get home from work! That is such a nice feeling. I feel like I can go for walks or bike rides after work-now I just need the temperature to comply!

And of course, these shoes just make me want to leap in the air. Commence jumping.

So, pretty much one of my worst nightmares happened as a teacher at school this week. One of my darling little girls broke her arm on my watch! I know it couldn't have been prevented-she was just playing on the playground and had an accident-but that doesn't lessen my guilt any. I honestly had no idea it was broken-I thought maybe it was a bad sprain or something. Thank goodness I called her mom to take her to the hospital!  Suffice it to say I'd like to be done with accidents for a while.

That being said, it's Friday friends! I certainly cannot complain about that any. We have plans to scrub just about every inch of our apartment, which sorely needs a bit of TLC. Here's to dusting off our lazy bums and pulling out the elbow grease!

What I Wore to Work

Hello, hello! And how was your first day of spring yesterday? It was cold here, but gloriously sunny. It's funny to think that last year at this date the weather was up in the 80's and now it's mid 20's! I'll tell you something though, if this means a mild summer, I will take the cold temps now. The heat is something I am not fond of.

I didn't realize quite how short I was until I saw these photos. Maybe it's the boots that are a bit tall? Or the long scarf? At any rate I have some shorty little legs, haha. Makes me laugh. Now THAT'S why I can't run very fast! Can you picture me just running down the sidewalk like a little duck? It's a hilarious sight, let me tell you ;)

I've been posting a lot of work wear outfits lately. I've been trying to spruce up what I wear by making it more colorful. My work 'uniform' is generally some form of chambray+cardigan+scarf+skinnies+boots. And done. When the weather finally does warm up I'll just substitute the boots for flats and take away the sweater and scarf! See, I have this all thought out, haha.

Hope you're all staying well and happy wherever you are!
Blessings,

Black Hat

Hey everyone! Are you having a nice week? We've had the stomach bug going on in our house this past week so I'm digging into some of my drafts for this one. When I first got this vintage black fedora I decided a black and tan look was the perfect way to wear it to church.

Now it's soda crackers, soup, and a bit of curling up on the couch for this girl. It's a good thing I have my Kung Fu Panda blanket at the ready :)
God Bless!

Do My Jeans

Hello my friends, I have a fun concept to share with you today! The company Do My Jeans contacted me to check out their website a while ago and  I'm pretty excited to share my findings.
I definitely have a penchant for all shapes and sizes of jeans. I have so many pairs of thrifted, hand me down, and storebought jeans in all different silhouettes. The problem is that most of those pairs are pretty ill-fitting. I think all women (and men too actually) know how difficult it is to find that perfect pair of pants that aren't too long, too short, pucker at the waist, etc. That's where Do My Jeans comes in! They are a Custom Jeans / Custom and Tailor made jeans company who provide a large assortment of options for you to choose from. Plus, the process is so easy and fun. When I checked out their website I spent a good 20 minutes just playing around and dreaming up different options!

The first step in creating your perfect pair of jeans is choosing a rise-whether you want a low or high waisted fit. After that you choose the cut of the jeans, from bootcut, to capri's! Once you've chosen the fit of your jeans there are many more options for you to customize your pair. You can choose from an assortment of washes, how the pockets will look, the design of the buttons, the closure of your jeans, even the belt loops! They have a variety of choices for both men and women (I think it would be fun to make my hubby design his own jeans, haha!).

Most certainly the best part about this website is that you order your jeans custom fit to your body. All you have to do is measure yourself, and their easy measuring guide will help you out if need a little assistance. I have so many pairs of jeans that are either too short or too long in my closet. Being able to customize the length, waist, hips, and thigh fit is such an exciting option. We're all shaped so differently, why buy jeans that are mass produced for just one body type? Instead of having 5-10 pairs of ill-fitting jeans in your closet which don't get much use, why not have 1-2 pairs that fit you like a dream and that you'll wear all the time? Plus the jeans are all 98-100% cotton. Can't get much better than that. I was also pleased with their origins as well, which you can read about here if you're interested.
In short, I was very pleased with the ease and aesthetics of their website and product, check them out!

Also, with all of this banter I couldn't leave you empty handed. Just for you all I have some codes for you to redeem if you'd like to try a pair out for yourself!

Don't Pinch Me, I'm Wearing Green!

Did you all have a lovely time doing St. Patrick's Day festivities? Our household is decidedly boring, but we took part in none of the craziness that surrounds this holiday. Yesterday we had a lovely lunch with Sean's family, and then Sean and I had a fun afternoon in. I baked a bit, and then we played Lord of the Rings Monopoly! I have quite a few versions of Monopoly and they each have their own fun details.

I also had a gift card given to me by my sister for a beauty supply store here in town, so I went there to check out what they had. I've been in need of some foam curlers for my hair and I found just the ticket. They carried some foam rollers lined in satin! Satin is supposed to be good for your hair. It smooths it and makes it shiny. I can't wait to try them out!

Not much to say otherwise! It's a good day for housework and lesson planning.
A happy day to all of you :)
God Bless!
