Our Weekend+ SammyDress

Hello, hello! Have you all had a splendid weekend so far? Sean and I had a lovely Saturday (albeit a bit exhausting). We decided we were going to take the whole afternoon and visit several thrift stores that we hadn't been to in town. We certainly found some interesting things including this gem of a board game, which we unfortunately did not buy. We also found a fun s'mores maker for our 'kitchen gadgets we probably don't need' collection. We're coming along nicely on that one.
I convinced Sean to drive us the long trek downtown to a new (to me) vintage shop a few friends had recommended to me. Boy did I geek out when I got there. She had so many lovely 1940's gems and I ended up coming home with two 1940's dresses and one gorgeous suit! When I went up to buy it turns out clothing was 25% off so I felt even better about my purchases. Plus I ended up talking to the shop owner for like 15 minutes at the till about how amazing the stories behind vintage clothing are and how she gets to talk to all these old ladies who bring in their old things. She even has pictures of owners wearing their clothing from decades past and ahhhh I could have talked to her for ages. I told her if she's ever hiring I want a job and I think I made a new friend :). She also had an Etsy shop just bursting full of treasures called Aviena, check it out, you will not be disappointed I promise!

In other news, I am wearing my new favorite coat sent to me courtesy of Sammydress! They are a fast growing online retailer offering high quality products at amazing prices. They have such a range of styles from modern to vintage, it really was fun perusing their site.  Looking through their website I found so many super cute items, but fell in love with this jacket. It has an interesting texture and proportion to it. I love any item that has unique features, and the exposed seaming on this piece was so eye-catching I couldn't pass it up. Click on the image below or the above links to take you to their website! I have another post coming this week featuring this jacket a second time. It is quite versatile, and goodness, you can't beat the prices of this lovely stuff!

Happy sunny Sunday friends! It is in the 40 degree range here which is a full 80 degrees warmer than just a couple of weeks ago! Break out the bathing suits woohoo!

Flock Together, Hats and Dresses

Hello, hello all! I have two Flock Together posts to share with you today! The first is on Flock Together today with me styling up a yellow dress belonging to Amy of A. Loo's Closet. It features a little fur hat from my shop. I had a lot of fun styling this dress for winter, but pop on over to see how Amy styled it for summer!

Secondly, awhile ago I posted about the most fun dress I've ever worn. It belongs to Sammi of The Soubrette Brunette! It is a comic book dress with the most darling comic on it about a woman who is making her own fabulous clothes with a sewing machine instead of buying the expensive dresses from the store. All in 1940's style of course :) . I also featured another hat from my shop in the post which matched perfectly with the design on the dress! Check it out here!

Have a wonderful Friday!
God Bless,
KJA

Galatians 6:9-10
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

A Petticoat and a Bridge

This vintage-loving gal finally got her hands on an essential garment to any retro wardrobe-a petticoat! I've worn it a couple of times now and it is just the most fabulous feeling to swish around like a princess for a day. I thought this 1950's dress (another yellow look!) was the perfect piece to try out a full-skirted look, along with this fur hat from my shop! I had a lot of fun posing  and trying to channel a 1950's magazine shoot or something. I think if I could go back in time, that would be my activity of choice- a vogue photoshoot around 1950 sounds about perfect :)

I really love this hat. It has a gorgeous spiral design with a satin bow adorning the back of it. It is so perfect for a vintage inspired outfit, but would look just as wonderful with a modern ensemble as an accent piece! You can check it out in my Etsy Shop here!

I'm working on some blog changes for  the next couple of weeks, so I'll hopefully be rolling that out next week! I want something that is more professional and a more consistent schedule to keep me on track.  I'm excited for that!

I hope you're having a wonderful week!

God Bless,
KJA

Casual

Well, it's been quite the week to say the least. Here's hoping this week starts off on a better foot. I have been mostly wearing casual outfits with my hair in scarves for practicality, and never neglecting my lipstick for a second :)

For Christmas my sister gave me this gorgeous clip that she picked up while on her mission trip. I love clipping it into my hair to spruce it up a little bit.

a great Sunday friends! Yesterday was my nephews 5th birthday party, so I  hope to post photos of that this week!

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
