Ketchup (suit) Mustard (beret)

Hey there my dears! How is your week going so far?
I have quite the old outfit for you- from two Sunday's ago when I was still in the cities! I like to dress pretty fancy on Sundays- I'm an old lady like that :) We visited our friends' church which is always a treat. It's fun to see a different service, hear a different message, and sing some other songs (they played my favorite-Be Thou My Vision!).

I'm very excited because my sister will be over tomorrow for lunch! I don't get to spend much time with her as she is a very busy mama with my two favorite nephews :) so I love when she and I get to chat for a bit.
Otherwise, that's all I have for tonight!
God Bless my friends!

In the Green

Did you all have a lovely Saturday? I left the husband at home to play video games while I poked around in one of my favorite antique shops for the afternoon. It's this little hidden place that always has the best collection of gems. They always have gorgeous vintage hats, magazines from the 40's and tons of serving wear and jewelry. Swoon.  I came home with two hats...although I wanted to grab about five of them...but I knew that would be frowned upon in our household ;) haha. The lady behind the counter told me that she just got a Christian Dior hat that she's going to put in the shop next week. I may have drooled a bit and I sort of wish she hadn't told me that. Now I have to go back. Darnskies...

This hat is one of my very favorites. I have some lovely friends who know me very well and I got this hat from one of them for my birthday! It might be the most beautiful vintage fedora that has ever graced my retro loving noggin. The shape, the color, the pretty ribbon on the back? Yep. I'm a bit hat obsessed.

Some of the items that get the most use in my closet are basics with a special detail. This white blouse is so versatile, but the pleating down the front makes it a bit fun. The cardigan is a basic shape, but it has such a pretty pattern and fun color. I love that!

Lastly I want to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful mama! I'm so thankful to have such an amazing mother to look up to. How blessed my sisters and I were to have her in our lives. :) Love you mama!
Have a simply fabulous night everyone :)

Here is an excerpt from Proverbs 31, of the wife of noble character. My mother certainly exemplifies these traits:

Proverbs 31:25-31
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.  She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Tiptoe through the Tulips

This outfit was what I wore last Saturday when I was all over the place with my friends in the cities. We did a bit of breakfasting, recorded a fun song (see yesterday's post), hung out at the Mall of America, had some great barbecue for supper, and even some quality time just talking in the evening. A very full and fabulous day!
I have to say I was a bit disappointed at the mall. I guess I've gotten so into second hand shopping that real stores just don't do it for me anymore. For the most part the clothes are cheaply made and I always wonder about the origins of the clothing also. I really want to start knowing where my clothing comes from and that it was ethically made. Plus (duh) the mall was crazy busy because we went there on a Saturday. I just can't handle that high concentration of people. The day was made better spent with those I love though, so who really cares how the shopping went? Can you believe it-all I bought all weekend was a pearly beret (4 dollars!) and a bag of chewy sprees for the 6 hour drive (seriously why are those things so GOOOOD). I was a very good girl I must say.

I wore these loafers all weekend long. They are so very comfortable, I was pleasantly surprised about that! I love when I thrift shoes that actually have arch support and cushion in them. I'll take comfy leather shoes for four dollars any day!

Some other highlights of the day: We played 8bit Wheel of Fortune on our NES emulator on Saturday night. It came complete with a hilarious Vanna White and we got into teams to battle out the puzzles. There were some really hilarious NES games back in the day. We went through some favorites like Where's Waldo, and had a good laugh at the Barbie game too!
Also, us girls were getting antsy for some alone time so we told the guys we were just going to follow them back to their house, but we took a little hour and a half detour to get shamrock shakes and happy meals at McDonalds (for the record, I didn't eat anything there-I haven't eaten fast food in a couple of years!). We just sat in the booth talking about everything and it was so great to catch up sans testosterone. Sometimes girls just need alone time to gab :)

I have some pretty funny friends. This is a house of guys and they have the most amazing couch with TULIPS on it in their living room. Seriously I would have stolen it if it could have fit in our car. You boys better watch your backs. I'M COMING BACK FOR THE COUCH! But seriously though-the cutest thing ever.

Also, a big THANK YOU to my beautiful friend Rachelle for taking my photos! It was so much fun to do photoshoots with her and I wish I could just keep her in my pocket with me wherever I go :)

Hope you all have a lovely Friday! Any weekend plans for you guys and dolls?
God Bless!

Friends

Just a short post again while I'm still getting in the swing of things.
My friend Rachelle took all of my outfit photos over the weekend-which was a blast. We laughed a ton and I had so much fun with her behind the camera. Besides outfit photos I did get a few shots with my friends-although I never seem to have my camera out very much when we're just hanging out. You'll just have to trust me that we had a very fun time!

My two best gals :)

Aaaand we may or may not have found a mascot to take a photo with at the Mall of America. It's kind of a tradition :) Rainforest Cafe Frog it was!

For today's verse I thought I'd post this little video that we made together this past weekend. My friend Brian takes Bible verses and puts them to music. We sing them at camp ever summer and it is magical. He's pretty great at it :) We decided to record one of the songs to put on You tube and it was so much fun!
So I'll leave you with this :)

Travel in Comfort

Hey everyone! Haven't blogged in a while because Sean and I took a little roadtrip over the weekend to see some great friends.
We had about a six hour drive, so I wore my comfy jeggings for the trip.
Now I'm just trying to play catchup and get a few things done that piled up while I was away!

I have so many fun pictures to show you from the weekend, so stay tuned!

Ciao for now and God Bless!
