On Sunday

I wore this to go visit my sister. She has been taking dance classes and had a recital to show off her skills! It was a lot of fun. I love to watch others dance! She had to wear a pretty, flowy dance skirt and twirl around on stage to pretty music- it was very graceful :)

So pretty :) I wish we had a better background, but the school walls had to suffice.

It was a really fun day! After the dance recital we went out for ice cream with my sister, and Sean's sister and fiance. We got these crazy huge "messy sundaes" with caramel and chocolate dripping down the sides...ahhh :D

Sean calls this my 'candy striper dress'. It has that thin pink stripe to it that might make one think I volunteer at a hospital. But alas, no. No more time in the hospital for me!

God Bless all!

Catching Up

Here are some photos taken last week before my little hospital stay. I did not wear these heels to teach in, however, but quite like the way they looked when I put them on after I got home :)

My first day back to school was a little challenging, but I found out I have so many people there who really care about me. I felt so loved going back! My students were glad to see me well also. I had to endure many questions on why I fell down and I didn't really know how to answer them because I don't even know the answers myself! I gave all of my kiddos a big hug today though.

Tomorrow is our last day and I'm going to miss them so soooo much. I feel like I could take each of those kids, put them in my pocket, and take them home with me. bah. I'm gonna cry tomorrow I just know it.

That's all for tonight. God Bless all and happy Monday night!

What's Been Going On...

The past few days have been kind of a blur for me.
In school on Thursday, in the midst of walking my first graders down the hall, I collapsed and found myself completely unsure of what was going on. I had felt like I was going to pass out so I called the name of a teacher walking down the hall. I did not want to have one of my kiddos have to run and get an adult. I ended up collapsing and falling against the wall. The other teachers ran to help me to the floor and I was completely helpless. I couldn't move my arms or legs and felt like my whole body was numb (like how it feels when your foot falls asleep). I ended up being rushed to the hospital and having numerous tests done on me over the period of two days. They included an EKG of my heart, EEG of my brain, CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound on my heart, Venus dopplex, tilt table test, and a ton of lab testing on my blood. The tilt table test showed the cardiologist that I have a heart condition called POTS Syndrome, or Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. It basically means that my heart rate slows when I am sitting or laying down and then rapidly increases when I am moved to the standing position. This triggers my blood flow to lessen causing me to almost pass out. Apparently I have what the cardiologist called, "Good maintenance" which means that I am able to keep myself from losing consciousness instead of blacking out entirely. They are just worried about this happening maybe while I am driving, which would be awful of course.
They doctors prescribed a heart medication for me, which I may or may not have to take for the rest of my life. It's a very scary thought. Apparently this plagues many young people, especially women (because of the loss of blood).
I am praising God that the doctors found some answers and ask for continued prayer as we figure out my medications and where to go from here. The doctors assured me that once I get myself recuperated this disease shouldn't affect my daily life. Exercise helps the condition, as well as getting extra fluids and eating more salt.
God always has a plan and I'm so glad that He was with me during this time. I couldn't have gotten through some of those tests without continually praying.
Hopefully I will be back to health soon

KJA

School Style

I'm really behind on my posting. This is what I wore to school on Monday. Basically I'm just trying to get through this week while still maintaining some of my voice. My kids are loud and so I just talk over them when they won't listen....probably not the best classroom management technique...but it IS the last full week of school! What can I expect right?

Here's to making it halfway through the week- keep smiling! :D

Green, Mean, Polyester Machine

I wore this outfit on Sunday to do a little shopping with my wonderful sister! Actually we didn't do a "little" shopping. We pretty much went to every store in town! Sometimes it takes that long to find what you are looking for. I had such a fun couple of days hanging out with family and shopping (my two very favorite activities). Thanks to my sister Jen for taking my last two rounds of outfit photos!
My kiddos were crazy today. They are so ready for summer, and so is their teacher! We're doing a lot of projects and such to try and keep them focused...but it isn't helping much. I don't remember being that off the wall when I was a child. Is it just this class, or are all kids completely silly and ridiculous like, ALL the time?! Bah, I wouldn't give them up though. I'm gonna miss 'em.
Hope your Tuesday was just a wonderful one!

Welcome to Adulthood

This was what I wore to church on Sunday. The pastor's wife told me she finally figured out what was different about me-and it was the way I dress! She said that I don't look like everyone else and she couldn't figure out why...haha. I'll take that as a compliment!

My kids at school today asked me if I was graduated now. I told them yes. One little boy said, "Mrs. Aman-welcome to adulthood!!" Haha! That was the best thing I heard all day! That kiddo knows what graduation is all about I guess ;) Then they all rushed up and gave me a big group hug :D It made me feel better. I was worried after being a mean, grouchy teacher last week that they wouldn't like me anymore-I guess weekends make everything better!

I found this vintage shell clasp belt a few years ago, but I don't wear it very much because it tends to not stay clasped because it is too big...which is a problem. It came undone twice during the church service...but no one noticed...! I'm going to have to try to fix it somehow because I just love it so much!

Also, it isn't super noticeable, but I finally got a haircut the other day. I donated my hair back in November, only to get home and realize that it was cut sort of uneven and lopsided. However, I didn't go back and have it cleaned up because I just didn't have the time. I finally went to get it evened out and I love it! I added some layers at the front too. So much better. I'm liking this length so far! I'm so used to having hair down to my waist, it was quite a change, but one I'm definitely embracing :)

Hope you're having a simply lovely Monday! I have one more week of solo teaching and then just three more days of school next week to finish off the year. Here's to a super-fast whirlwind week ahead of me!

God Bless,
KJA

Gradgitation

My kids kept me busy last week, and THIS is what kept me busy yesterday:

Time with family was wonderful yesterday. It is so amazing to finally have the worry of school off of my shoulders. Here I come real world!
