Our First Christmas Tree

This post is long overdue, but I'm finally posting some pictures of our Christmas tree! Sean and I put up and decorated our tree on December 4th. We borrowed a fake tree from his parents for this year. I prefer a real tree, mainly because of the smell...:) but this tree is very pretty. Sean has a bunch of his ornaments from when he was growing up, and we got some of his great grandmother's ornaments as well. They are right up my alley! Vintage/homemade/awesome! It was such a fun time to decorate our first Christmas tree together in our home. We didn't have a tree last year because we moved right around Christmas. I'm so glad we get to have one this year!

This was in a box of decorations from Sean's grandmother. We loved it and decided to hang in on our door! Now we're the most festive apartment on our floor...:) haha!

What a gorgeous day it was outside today! South Dakota does know that it's DECEMBER right?
A friend of ours was over this weekend so we did some shopping today. We checked out a new thrift store we found, went to get smoothies...it was fun! It was such a great feeling to be lazy and not have homework in the back of my mind. I slept until 11 this morning and then got up and made pancakes, bacon and eggs PLUS I did some dishes! I am like on a roll today. Not to mention we just spent the afternoon watching Phineas and Ferb movies.
I'd say it's a good day :)











































Here are my spoils for today. I get presents for finishing my first semester of residency (aka my ninth semester of college)! We went to get deliciousness at Juice Stop AAAAND I found another vintage Coach bag at the thrift store! I told Sean (much to his dismay) that now that I have two Coach bags I officially have a collection and need more (teehee). I don't think that will fly...:) But considering the bags cost almost 300 dollars normally, I don't feel too badly about spending a few dollars on a quality, leather vintage bag. I so rarely buy well made items! Huzzah for the thrift store :)



I do apologize for the overload of pictures, but considering my lack of blogging in the past week, I'd say I'm just making up for lost time :)

One Semester Down!!!

I'm kind of on cloud nine right now. I mean, besides having like six loads of laundry to do, a bunch of dishes, and some house cleaning....but I AM DONE WITH ONE SEMESTER OF MY RESIDENCY!!!!! Can you tell I'm a bit excited? I can't believe that this crazy, insanely busy semester has come to an end and that I will have unit plans and teaching work samples looming in my future...but until them I'm going to take the extra time I would have been working on homework to do some normal things...like bake or do crafting projects-maybe even see some actual FRIENDS for the first time in while!
I still have to be at my school until December 23rd, but as far as college classes go I am free until January 9th. Weeeee!

Since it was our last day of classes, we decided it was going to be ugly sweater day. Since I didn't have the time to really go shopping for an ugly sweater I had to borrow one of Sean's...so it doesn't have a hairy cat or big unicorn on it, but at least it was a large sweater? I don't know, I tried...lol!

















It is getting c-c-coooold out!



I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend with NO WORRIES of homework for a couple of days (even though all of my residency cohort are already freaking out about next semester) I've decided I'm not going to think of next semester until it comes. There is simply no need.

I Can See the End

Hello bloggy of mine! Long time no see. My semester is NEARLY OVER! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be almost halfway through my residency program. This week has been spent finishing up all of the work which needs to be done to complete the semester. I have written a 7 page paper, done numerous discussion questions, taken 3 hour quizzes, worked my tooshie off writing lesson plans, and now it all culminates tomorrow with a presentation for my reading practicum (I still have to prepare the presentation tonight :P)

I can't believe this is the first chance I've had to take pictures in like four days. Mostly I haven't been blogging because it is freezing cold outside and gets dark by the time Sean or I even get home.







Today we had a six hour Thinkfinity workshop. It is an educational website that brings a bunch of teaching resources together in one place, like an interdisciplinary database. Now that we've gone through the six hours of training we are certified to teach this website to others, which should look pretty good on our resume!






Some more exciting news: Sean and I received (for renewing our lease) a ceiling fan/overhead light for our living room! We had no overhead lights in our living room and both bedrooms. But now we at least have a light in our living room. It will be much easier on my eyes to do homework now, and just in general brighten up our living space. It looks nice too! I'm pretty happy about it :)

20's Inspiration

I know, I'm a bad blogger. I just haven't had time to traipse outside and take photos of myself. I just need to get through this last week of classes for the semester and then I won't be so concerned about homework for a while!

Cleaning Frenzy

The husband and I are furiously cleaning everything in the house today. It's gotten completely out of control with all of the traveling and crazy school and work schedules lately. Laundry was engulfing the second bedroom, so I started there while Sean did all the dishes and cleaned the kitchen. Then we began cleaning the second bedroom to make room for our living room chair so we can finally set up the Christmas tree in our living room! This will be our first Christmas tree together, so I'm kind of excited :) It's fake, but I cannot complain as his parents are loaning us one of their fake trees. With all of the Christmas traveling we will do, we really don't need a real tree this year. I'm just excited to decorate a tree for the first time in a couple of years. I remember that was one of the most saddening things about growing up and moving away from home, I didn't have all of my ornaments from when I was a kid and didn't get to decorate with my family anymore. Hopefully having a tree this year will make up for lost time :) All I know is that Sean's grandmother gave us boxes of decorations that I am so excited to look through! I never decorate for holidays or anything, I just don't have that knack for making things look pretty-but dagnabbit I'm gonna try!









This is what I wore to church today. We finally got some snow over the weekend, so out come my trusty boots! These are definitely fantastic for the winter. They are waterproof, tall enough to not let snow in at my ankles, and at only three dollars they are definitely one of my best purchases in the past few years. I also refuse to take my gloves off from here on out. I wore them in the church even and the pastor commented on them. I told him I even wear them in class sometimes because my hands are always so cold! Can't be without my gloves :)

















Alrighty, It's time to get back to more cleaning, tree decorating...and probably homework..hope you all had a great weekend!

Work Christmas Party

I realized I hadn't blogged for a few days, so I thought before I began writing my final practicum paper that I would do a quick snippet of the hubby's Christmas party from this week. The party was on this past Thursday night, December first. It was a right busy day for me with observations all day long, a teaching workshop, and then only a little time to get myself gussied up for mingling with Sean's co-workers. Whew! I decided to wear this gorgeous vintage dress my Rachelle gave to me a while back. It is perfect for a Christmas party-It is red and shiny-how much more perfect could it be? Not to mention the gorgeous jeweled buttons and quilting detail...and let's not forget the pockets!!

Please excuse the horrible picture quality as it was very dark outside and so we had to take photos in the apartment hallway...:) lovely :P haha

Now it's on to my six page paper, I should be able to crank it out in a few hours before Sean gets home from work today (here's hoping...)
