Sisters :)

What a fun day! My sister came to visit and stay last night and I was so sad to see her go today-we have so much fun! Last night we played Kinect and watched old episodes of Less Than Perfect on hulu. It was awesome.
This morning we left the house around 10 and went to the mall to get haircuts. When we got there though we found that it was crazy days!! So of course we had to do a little shopping as well...Jeni bought me this amazingly beautiful bag as an early birthday present (it was 75% off!). I will have to show it to you later this week :)
After shopping a bit we went and got our haircut! I got two inches off, but really it doesn't look like I got a cut at all. These pictures were taken post cut-can you tell? After the mall (at which my sister found some awesome dresses) We went downtown to a little bistro where you can get the most amazing paninis. I should have branched out, but I got the same thing I got last time I went there-it was just too good!
After our tummies were full we went to an antique store just chock full of treasures. There was a table with a bunch of three-dollar stuff on it and Jeni and I each got a vintage brooch (she bought mine, the darling). Jeni also tried on this fabulous three piece vintage suit from Saks 5th Ave. from the 1960's, but decided it was a bit pricey. After the antique store we made our way across town to another thrifting treasure trove. It has racks of dollar items and Jeni came away with another great dress. I was a good little girl. I only spent two dollars-I bought a pair of dress pants (of which I am sorely in need of) and a sweater for Sean.

It was such a great day! I can't believe how good I was at not spending money-usually I have a hard time with it, but I think I've come to the realization that we're poor and I have plenty of items at home to keep me happy :) But Jeni found some amazing items that looked so great on her!! And I made her snap some photos of me as well-thanks Jen! It was a blast :D

So that was my day off-how did you spend your holiday?
God Bless!

Polka...dots :)

Sean and I went to check out another new church today. We went to a much larger one this week than last week. The worship was great, and so was the sermon actually. It's just a matter of time with this church-the second service didn't start until 10:45 and we didn't even get home until 1 o'clock. We'll have to keep checking out different churches until we find one that we love-there are so many now that we live in a bigger place!

In a little bit my sister will be here-yippe! I'm planning on making a fun supper tonight and then working it off by playing Kinect :) Sean and I and his two friends played Kinect until 12:30 am last night...oops! But we were having so much fun it was hard to quit! Ah, good times with friends :)

Hope you're having a happy Sunday!
God Bless,
KJA

This was what part of the service was based on today-I thought it was a great message, about God's holiness!
1 Peter 1:13-16
Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy."

Lazy Day

Just a lazy day at home. The hubby has a couple of guy friends hanging out and working on transferring a bunch of xbox stuff...talking about things that I have no idea of. I've been doing laundry and reading Calvin and Hobbes :)

I'm not wearing anything special today-just a cozy cardi and jeans-sometimes that's what a girl needs!

Hope you're enjoying the weekend-tomorrow my sister is coming to visit and Monday (a holiday) we're going to go thrifting and have lunch at this amazing little panini place-I'm so excited! Have a great long weekend!
God Bless,

Psalms are so amazing-don't you think?

Psalm 40

1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD
and put their trust in him.

4 Blessed is the one
who trusts in the LORD,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.[b]
5 Many, LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.

6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire—
but my ears you have opened[c]—
burnt offerings and sin offerings[d] you did not require.
7 Then I said, “Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll.[e]
8 I desire to do your will, my God;
your law is within my heart.”

9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly;
I do not seal my lips, LORD,
as you know.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness
from the great assembly.

11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, LORD;
may your love and faithfulness always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.
13 Be pleased to save me, LORD;
come quickly, LORD, to help me.

14 May all who want to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The LORD is great!”

17 But as for me, I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
you are my God, do not delay.

I can imagine that I have a beautiful roseleaf complexion, and lovely starry violet eyes...

Oh how I long to watch Anne of Green Gables! Sadly, I do not own the movies...I need to make a trip home so I can watch our VHS copy! I always used to get sick during Christmas vacation and so I would camp out on the couch and watch the 6 hours of awesomeness that is Anne of Green Gables. Well, thankfully this year I didn't get sick and even if I had been sick I wouldn't have been at home :(
That's such an odd thing, to realize that you will never be living at home again. I have been married for almost 6 months and the realization is just slowly starting to kick in. It really hit me when I didn't get to go home for Christmas this year. But I'm happy where I am and making the best of things :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday! I'm looking forward to the three day weekend-and one of my wonderful and beautiful sisters is going to be visiting sometime over the weekend as well! I'm so excited :) We'll probably eat too much food, watch too many movies, and stay up too late you-tubing stupid videos-ahhh bliss :D
God Bless!

Balmy

The morning started off rocky. I was supposed to go to the grocery store at 9 am to make sure I got the sales before the mob stormed in. This hy-vee is vicious. But I went to start my car...and the poor baby thought it was too cold outside to start. Oh, Roxy-just can't handle the cold can you? So I waited until this afternoon when the sun had been shining on the car for a while to go and it started! Thankfully...:)
The grocery store was a madhouse-I hate having so many people around me when I shop. The soup aisle was especially suffocating. Progresso is usually like $2.50 or something and it was on sale for $1 so the aisle was chock full of middle aged women trying to keep their family's tummies warm. Some lady looked at me and said "I guess we all like soup!" and I was like "Well, that's because it's so cold here! :)" haha. It was an adventure anyway!
The nicest thing about going to the grocery store was the guy who was working at the checkout. He was a little older than middle aged, but he was just so happy the whole time he was checking my groceries. He asked how I was and I said "Great! How are you?" and he replied "Blessed :)" and then when I was done paying and about to leave he said "I hope your day is blessed and happy and that your family is blessed too :)" !!
It pretty much made my day-why don't we all act like that DAILY? Maybe we'd be happier people if we just added enjoyment into our mundane tasks-like checking groceries can't be that fun-but he didn't care! He just wanted to make others happy. I wanted to go back and give him a thank you card or something.

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Heat Wave

The temperature spiked today-it's a whopping ZERO degrees outside! That means I can pull out the swimsuit right? Har har har.

In spite of the cold I am in a great mood. I found out last night that I will not have to commute to campus this semester to take a class! The professor worked it out with the dean that I could take that particular class next semester as part of a residency program that I will be involved in. I'm pretty excited not to have to drive and this means that I will only be taking one online class for this semester. Woohoo! Now I really need to get my rear in gear and get a job. Be praying please!

The hubby and I are finally starting to work on getting ourselves healthier. We've started up a physical and spiritual workout. Every other day we read several chapters of the Bible together, and the other days we work out together! It's been pretty fun so far :) I'm excited that we're finally taking the time to do these things instead of being so lazy and tired and stressed out. It's nice that now that we live where Sean works we have more time to do things and less worry in our lives-it's a good feeling!

This is one of my favorite verses. It can be difficult to follow, because it's against human nature to feel joy in certain circumstances in our lives, but we just have to remember that there is no situation that God can't turn around and use for good and for His purpose :)

James 1:2-3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

God Bless!

Drifting

No, silly, not me-the snow! I shoveled a path last week to our back patio door, but alas-the nonstop snow yesterday has covered the whole thing up and left a huge drift in the way! Luckily I had just enough room to get pictures-but my boots were pretty soaked when I was done. It is freezing here, the temp says it is -4!!! Brrr....but I finally bought myself some decent gloves instead of using the thin knit ones and I was much warmer :)

I have to go to the bank today...but that requires cleaning off my car...and it's -4 outside...sigh. Better get some soup in me and brave the cold! I'm also hoping the roads aren't too bad since my car and ice are not the best of friends

How is your Tuesday lovelies? Hope you are having a warmer day than here :D haha.
Ps: Today is lucky. 11 is my lucky number and it is 1-11-11...the only thing better is going to be coming on November 11th...but until then I'm going to pretend that today is lucky! Woohoo!

I saw this verse posted today and it really hit home with me. Something to think about :)

Matthew 6:1
Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

God Bless!
